Having played this game a while, it has a solid foundation. However, it's significantly bogged down by having a huge and completely unnecessary barrier for entry with player-to-player interaction. You can't browse clans to join, it's only by invite, but you can't really communicate with other players in-game. You can't find specific players by username, only by their player ID, which could only be shared through external means like Discord, or Reddit. This would be alright, if there is a server on site like that, and a way to this server was provided from within the game... Which, again, there isn't. I'm playing a game with staple multiplayer features like Clans, and it feels like I'm playing a single-player game.
Let's see here... Premium currency that is unreasonably hard to get without paying up. Content that requires an equally unreasonably high amount of said currency. Daily tasks where you'll often lose more than you gain from the rewards. Daily tasks that you can't even do unless you progress far enough. There's an Energy system. Pop-ups nagging at you with offers every single time you open up the game. One single miss-click can cost you dearly, with no safeguards. Disingenuous, copy-paste replies to comments from the devs. I give this game a P2W rating of 8/10. And of course this game got badges that's sure to keep any hapless badge hunters occupied for a good long while, because Kong is desperate for money.
The special events of this game are fun, but they really highlight just how bad the cheating issue is in this game. Lost count of how many blatant cheaters I've seen just over the course of 2 weeks, during the 2022 Halloween event.
So, what to say about this game? It fits into 2 main categories; Idle and MMO, and aside from the pretty coat of paint that is the colorful but generic art style, and the smooth, but minimalist animation, there's nothing good to say about it.
I haven't played for long, but I can guess the sequence of events well enough from what I've seen. It starts off by bombarding you with tons of tiny little jolts of dopamine by making it extremely easy at the start, coupled with quick, impactful upgrades bringing the numbers up real fast, in an effort to get you nice and addicted, or "invested" as they'd call it. No doubt, this bit is soon to be followed by one of two things that are staple to both the MMO, and Idle categories: First, a brick wall, and the store rearing it's ugly head to nag at the player with offers containing a "solution". Second, a continuous grind of ever increasing numbers, providing diminishing returns of dopamine rushes, with the store ever present to offer a nice fix.
The concept is fun, but the luck-based aspect makes some levels almost impossible, if not completely impossible to do perfect runs on. Like normal-12 for example, where there's a spiral path with a tricky gauntlet of guards on the way to the target. I reach the target relatively smoothly (yet the time was almost up for the ultimate challenge, despite the good run), only for the extraction point to spawn at the very beginning of the gauntlet I just went through. My advice: Feel free to try to get the hard badge, but only if you're feeling lucky.
I didn't realize there was a par for explosions, and I'd celebrate a completed level by rapid-firing explosions while the reds fell. Needless to say, I went way, WAY above par for a whole lot of simple levels.
Used CCleaner on my computer, and accidentally deleted the game saves. For anyone else using programs like that, check off Multimedia: Adobe Flash Player if you want to keep your saves.
The fact is that this is the game that gets the platformer, shooter, survival genre mash-up just right for me that I've been looking for on the internet for YEARS, is just awesome. I did not expect that same game to also be based on an MLP fan fiction, however.
I'm personally not really a fan of MLP, but I don't hate it, and I don't mind this game having an MLP spin to it. But I do know that this game will have it's rating dragged down significantly due to haters rating it 1/5 for no reason but it's association to MLP, while being completely blind to the Fallout aspect of it. That is a damn shame, considering how well executed this game is.
In the Hangar screen, it says "Normal Shop". If you're wondering if there's a different shop option, there's supposed to be a Premium shop, but it's not available on the Kongregate version.
This is probably not a common issue, but for me, this game crashes. A lot. So much so that the medium badge was harder to get than the "hard" badge. This issue was especially bad in levels 5 and 7.
I like how much more mobile the player is in this game. However, this might mean the zombies will have to be more mobile, too. If the zombies stayed the same as they were in the original released version of this, it'd be way too easy to avoid them. Though that may be the idea, to make the game more focused on PvP, instead of PvE.
I really don't like the lack of long-range accuracy with sniper rifles. It's nearly impossible to hit something from longer than a few yards away. Kinda defeats the purpose of them if you can't use them for long range attack.
Who are "they"? :O, and poison/flamethrower are really strong against the late game enemies :)
