Basic controls, for anyone else who was wondering: movement is controlled by the numpad; 8 = up, 4 = left, 6 = right, 2 = down. To pick up an item or use something like stairs, stand over it and hit G. To the developer, an "Instructions" section would probably be a good idea.
For those interested, I am unfortunately unable to publish any more updates until after the contest is finished (March 1st, I believe). Once it is over, I will be adding more levels and other extras. As a side note, is there any interest in seeing an iDevice/Android version of Reckless Speed?
@geovanny7: I just went back over my code, just to make sure I didn't have something out of place that would cause you to lose your score for the Ninja Stage on the Grid, and everything looks as it should. Or, perhaps, better said I could not find anything out of place. If anyone else experiences this problem, definitely let me know. geovanny7, do me a favor, and get a score on that level again, exit out, and re-enter. Tell me if it, again, erases the score. I apologize this happened, and will do everything I can to figure out where the problem is.
UPDATE: A new Level (The Grid) with four regular stages and one ninja stage has been added! Also, the bug with The Chasm in Skyvane Tower has been fixed; but anyone who had jumped the chasm before should probably go jump it again (especially those with a score above 13,000). A few minor bug fixes, as well. Another Level is being worked on, as well as the next update should add more sounds (for those requesting sounds for things like passing a check-point). I hope you enjoy the new stages, and thanks for playing.
The issue with the Chasm fake end sign was a bug I accidentally let slip through. When I update with the new set of stages (probably in a day) it will be fixed; although, with a bit of a hidden twist to make up for it. Thank you, to everyone, who pointed out what I missed.
Also, a level editor, multi-player, and a few other additions are things I have planned for a sequel. This one is going to get updated with a few more sets of stages before I begin work on the next, though.
For those having an issue hitting more than three keys at once, I apologize. It is not an issue with the game, but certain keyboards "ghost" certain keys when more than 3 are pressed. Which key combinations ghost which keys varies from keyboard to keyboard. Here is an explanation: http://www.microsoft.com/appliedsciences/AntiGhostingExplained.mspx
Try using the alternate controls, and see if that doesn't eliminate the ghosting issue.
Thank you, to everyone who has played and enjoyed the game. For those interested, I am already at work on new Levels/Hidden Praise/Extras. They should be out before the Unity contest ends. On a side note, some people's high score is damned good. Impressive.
Nice environment demo. Well done. The moon and the snow effects were good. The thing that was glaringly missing, though, was no sound of crushing snow when I walked. A bit more interactive sound would have gone a long way to polish the feeling of immersion.
I really like it, and I definitely applaud the graphics. Unique and interesting. Truth be told, I am working on a 3D Canabalt-style game for the competition, as well. Now, I am going to have to step it up a notch if this is my immediate competition. Well done. 5/5 from me.
Excellently designed Metroidvania game; with all the exploration, item gathering, and physics-based puzzles one could want. I definitely applaud. As mentioned, a targeting recticle (or a laser sight would be even better) showing where a shot will go would be very helpful. Past that, EASILY a 5/5. One of the best games on Kongregate.
