I play electric guitar and write punk, metal, and alternative songs. I have a Lotus E555 guitar (Lotus was a manufacturer of guitars from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Most of the guitars were manufactured in Japan). Once the economy turns around, I’m getting a Rondo SX BG-204 BK Bass guitar. I like Raven and Peavey amps and Boss pedals (Metal Core MT-2, Metal Zone ML-2, Overdrive OC-3, Compression Sustainer CS-3, Mega Distortion MD-2).

If you want some cool toys, I recommend:

1) the Line 6 POD Studio UX2 (it’s a great way to try out a ton of stomp boxes, amps, and cabs for guitars and bass guitars and find “your sound”). You can even record on your PC with it and it has 6 mic preamps.

2) the Vox amPlug. It acts like a mini amp and it fits in the palm of your hand. You can plug your headphones (and iPod) into it and jam without others hearing you. There’s 3 models: acoustic-electric, classic rock, and metal.
