You have an interesting game with quite a lot of potential, but as others have said, the energy system is putting a bit of a damper on it. The key to keeping people interested in your game should be replayability and customization, not forcing them to stop playing. It takes the fun out of it, and makes people less likely to stick around when they can't proceed at a reasonable rate. Having to wait in order to grind in order to actually play - it's a bit too Zynga for my liking.
Hey Nullified, thanks for your comments! We're not at 'finished product' mode just yet. We've made a lot of changes, and a lot of changes are coming. Essentially, when we put Grim up on Kong as Beta we knew that we'd get a lot of feedback and have a lot of work ahead of us. Regarding the 'energy' system - we're transitioning 'rations' into a resource, and not energy gating. This has not been done all in one shot, we have been working step by step on it. We've removed the ration requirement to search buildings, given players 3 different ways to earn rations for free, and there are more changes coming... and I completely understand your comment regarding grinding it out.
Not entirely sure how it happened, but I'm currently stuck at the top section of lankyroot jungle (1st column, 3rd row). I had saved while in the lower section of the screen, and on load it stuck me at the top. I can't proceed or backtrack.
I love Tesla, and I love this game. Only complaint is that the setup time needs to be longer as you get more upgrades - what's the use of getting the ability to place more towers and mines when you don't have time to place them?
Fantastic game, and very unique art. I've noticed a lot of games can be unbalanced when it comes to premium or paid content, but Grinns Tale handles it well. The only things I feel need to be brought up are the possibility of cancel options for rally and production. With 1 hour+ build times, a misclick can be a bit of a pain. Keep up the great work!
This game is quickly becoming one of my favorite top-down shooters on the site. The graphics are very slick (but not too resource intensive for those of us with...less impressive computers), and the music is great. As for the gameplay, the flow is fast without feeling rushed, and the rate at which you earn cash is quick enough that you don't feel forced to go back and grind just to keep it playable. Love the drone mechanics, and the fact that as you get stronger, "Tikky" does too (after mission 5, at least). The defenses in each level do a great job of keeping you moving, when a lot of people might be tempted to sit in one place and "tank" whatever comes at you.
Honestly, my only complaint is that it wasn't longer. I would definitely love to see a sequel to this, possibly with an unlockable endurance mode when the missions are complete?
i wish i could made it bigger. It was my first game, i had a lot of doubts if the game would be good or not, it was a learning experience. If i made a sequel i will try to really push the game. Many great ideas from what you guys are saying im taking notes. If i make a sequel it will def be longer.
The decision now, its based on how well the game goes for me ($$$, i still have to make a living).
Thanks for the comments.
For anyone who was a fan of the first William and Sly game, this is a wonderfully familiar game, but the progress that has been made is astounding. The graphics are gorgeous, and not as resource-intensive as I would have expected. The audio is fantastic as well, and it's very nice that you included a mute button, but I cannot fathom why anyone would want to use it. Bravo.
I'd be interesting in seeing an endurance mode of sorts. Maybe a song that loops, and you're given a certain number of lives. All in all, fantastic game. Lots of fun.
This game is great, and COULD be fantastic. There are a few things that should be addressed. Firstly, a quality setting would be very helpful. Once you're on the last shop and have a lot of action on-screen, Flash has a tendency to jam up and crash. That does not make for an enjoyable experience. A manual save would also be appreciated, especially if the quality issue cannot be addressed.
Weird... We'll look into this. Thanks for the heads up!
