Because browsers tend to have a "Feature" that slows down tabs that aren't active to reduce CPU and power usage. You need to keep the game on it's own window or otherwise in focus to prevent the browser from doing this. Or, you can disable "Background Tabs Throttling" in Chrome and Opera.
Any reasoning for this? If you have any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them. You're definitely allowed your opinion, but I'm trying to make this game the best it can be! Sorry you felt that way.
