It's a nifty little game with interesting mechanics, however there is come clear room for improvement. :) The interface feels nice to use, but when streamlining by using symbols it's important to include easy-to-find explanations for those symbols- a simple mouseover box saying what each letter/symbol means would do the trick nicely. The automatic progression of time was frustrating, and possibly could use a stop/go button- when setting all of my units into training it became a race to see whether or not I would get them in before the time period was already due. A stop button for the timer would mean that the parts of the game dependent on choosing what to do could be a little more forgiving for those of us still figuring out what to do. Finally I'd like to recommend displaying the change in stats and costs for levelling up BEFORE one actually purchases a level, rather than after :) Good game, and I do hope to see a sequel!
Pretty smooth game, I like the mechanic, satisfying too. I'm fond of tripods, but the purist in me wishes you hadn't gone for the cheesy designs from the movie (because it was a terrible movie, mostly). Still, it was good fun to wade through the different enemy types, which were nicely varied. I think my favourite part is the music, very epic, ominous and tanky. Is there anywhere I could get the track just for personal atmospheric use?
Beautiful and serene, I think the game really homes in the point that you can do a heck of a lot without adding in overly complex mechanics. The animation is smooth, the music and sound are great, the art is vibrant and welcoming... It's pretty much a solid all-rounder. The journals were brief enough and flowed so well that I enjoyed halting to give them a read too. A great addition to the first game. (I also like that William's a different spin on what feels like the traditional Wizard that lives in the woods) ;)
Well polished visually, great music and sounds, intriguing mechanic for gameplay and wholly entertaining puzzles. The characters moved a little slowly for me at times, especially if I had to repeat a level. Dangit nerdy kid, walk faster! Your friend's lives are at stake!
Just as another suggestion/request, would it be possible to make the game pause when mouse focus is taken off the flash window? Both my companions died because of this. I know that you can hit a button and pause things, but I found that hard to remember to do consistently because you could have the illusion of being safe.
So here's an interesting little section you missed. I'm playing a female character, my partner is called Matthew. But ol' Barry Wilmott the janitor thinks it's a 'she' for some reason. Now, maybe I just have an unconventional marriage, but then why does everyone call her my husband?
It would be really nice to have a separate mute function for the FX and the music. I want to listen to something less tinkly, but the sound cues are really helpful. Otherwise, I like the new sorts of things this game brings.
"Sir, I had this marvellous idea. Instead of wearing a full suit of armour, how about you just wear TWO breastplates! It's like one breastplate, but TWICE as good! You'll be unstoppable!"
Would be nice to be able to accelerate the enemy's turn in the same way you can your own. Pretty fun, pretty simple and straight forward, made me laugh.
I like the gameplay and I like the theme and cards. It is a shame to see that Kongregate has become home to 'facebook' games, that is, those that restrict play without use of actual money, for very little actual gain. I can understand the need to make a profit, and the ability to buy extra cards or specific cards doesn't jar me at all: you want better content, then spare a few bucks for the developer. However, the limited energy is infuriating and sad. I'm already spending my time on this game, requesting I pay for the time beyond a very small rationed allotment is a little insulting. This really does fit what users tend to label "Pay to Play". It is not really a free online game, and in my opinion should not be endorsed through kongregate achievements.
I think if police buildings in your control had a hover-over spec on the percentage risk to your fort, it would be really useful in harder games where that can change from day to day. If it's the same as yesterday. I don't want to have to go and look in the building... but if it's changed I kind of want to know about it. Either a mouse-over number or having it feature up alongside the vital stats like food... because it is a vital stat, really.
Tight game, I like how it incorporates a bit of an Arenas feel as well. Tank maker is fun but fiddly. Love the music track, wish it escalated as the fights intensified maybe. Cheers.
It would be handy if the sound/music options and quality settings were tied in with my saved game. Having to reset it every time I refresh or even die is a little frustrating.
I do have a request though - often I'm indecisive about the weapons I use. If I select a thrown weapon, it would be nice to be able to switch instead of aiming the projectile at the ground directly in front of me.
