Even when you budget as well as I do, use gems, and carefully, penny pinchingly calculate exact costs taking everything into account it still takes aeons to get to level 8 FROM level 7.
5/5 game even without the paid version, just don't do what I did and make it to the final biome before accidentally overriding the autosave and having to start over. Always remember to save, kids...
