Bugs: Fly = basic bug. Ladybug = bonus health. Moth = bonus webbing. Bee = damages your health when eaten (not a big deal, just make sure you eat something else afterward). Dragonfly = temporary speed boost. Stag beetle = temporarily lets you build stronger golden webs (try to fill your webbing meter before eating this, to get maximum value from it). Firefly = summons moths (very dangerous; eat it immediately--unless you're absolutely desperate for webbing, in which case let it sit for a second or so and then eat it). Queen bee = summons bees, damages your health when eaten (even worse than a firefly, even more urgent to eat it immediately). Butterfly = takes a long time to eat (better hope you don't get a firefly or queen bee while you're eating it). Hummingbird = hovers for a moment before flying through, giving you time to reinforce your web in front of it. Bat = gets weaker over time as it breaks webs (maybe? it tends to be very bad news the first time it hits).
The song sounds like something from well after the age of vinyl--1990's at the earliest, and probably twenty-first century. And there are no hisses or pops. Sorry, but I'm just not feeling the nostalgia.
The first launch on which I made it past 100,000 feet was also the first on which I made it past 500,000 feet. After 500,000 I deliberately let myself crash; Total Objects and Fuel Recharge were high enough that I was never going to stop naturally.
If I ask Kant to clarify what he means by "Categorical Imperatives", he says "They are categorical, meaning they fall into different classes. They are also imperative, meaning they must always be followed." That's not right, especially the first bit; you've got the wrong definition of "categorical". (See http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/kant-moral/#CatHypImp .) Consider something like "They are categorical, meaning they apply to everyone, without exception. They are also imperative, meaning they tell us how to behave."
Fun game, but the multiplayer is imbalanced. Maybe it should scale loaded armies the same way it scales computer enemies, so you won't end up facing an army 10 levels above or below you?
I wish that you would make "Start" and "Redirect" boxes take zero time. As it is, it's frequently speed-enhancing to replace a "Rotate" or "Compare2" with a copy of the "Rotate" or "Compare2" programs, which is not elegant.
I find it really annoying when I have one solution that's faster than you're looking for but uses more boxes than you want, and another that uses fewer boxes than you're looking for but takes longer than you want. I end up having to try a bunch of different solutions along the optimality contour until I find the balance between speed and size which you've arbitrarily deemed ideal. I wish that you would at least tell us what targets you want, so that I won't have to test a compact-and-slow solution in order to find out that you're looking for something less compact but faster.
I was stuck for days on the Adept fishing license before I finally found a Blacktip Shark at Biscayne Shelf. It was a dark, fast-moving fish, and bit on my pink-and-orange Lil' ChubPlug. Developer: these should maybe be a little more common (they're currently, what, about one in a thousand?) or you should allow small sharks to count toward the adept license.
Very well-made game. Just a few suggestions:
1. Let me mark X's by right-clicking instead of having to hold the space bar or click the toggle.
2. In addition to the numbers turning grey when satisfied, they should turn red when dissatisfied. As it stands, it can be a pain to track down errors.
3. Eliminate the grey-numbers cheat; numbers should turn grey whenever what the player has entered satisfies them, even if it's wrong.
Hi! Thanks for your comment! :)
Regarding 1.: Unfortunately, there is no possibility to use the right click in Flash. If there were, we would have used it for sure.
Regarding 2.: That´s a nice idea, we will look into it to see if it´s practicable.
Regarding 3.: The grey numbers are there to help novice players to check if they placed the blocks correctly. So, the are satisfied whenever you placed the right blocks :)
Since most people are right-handed, wouldn't it make more sense to have the arithmetic on the right side of the visual field (where the left brain will see it) and the colors on the left side (where the right brain will see it)?
Thought about this since I read about that, too, somewhere a long time ago. When I did research for this game, though, I couldn't find any substantial evidence of this opposing brain/body fact - can you point me in the right direction here? Thanks!
Great take on Canabalt. A few minor suggestions:
• Show my name on past games instead of just "your past game". I like my name.
• Have a daily top ten list in addition to the "hall of fame" replays. Kong's daily high scores aren't sufficient since they roll over at a different time.
• In the "hall of fame" replays, have an option to select a player from the top ten for the camera to follow, rather than just having it follow whoever's in the lead at a given moment.
Added the option to hold SHIFT and lock certain tiles. Enjoy!
