I know this game is (very) old but *wow*, what an unsatisfying end. I don't care that the game is short (trying to beat your fastest time is good enough for replay) but, seriously, the ending is awful. You should be able to eat everything and be "king" of the cells or whatever. The game just stopping on you, as soon as you "get going," is really, *really* bothersome.

Super disappointing, once you get ~10 levels in and realize that it's basically impossible to keep your ship even CLOSE to upgraded properly. You're forced to grind levels starting VERY early on. There's never really a sense of advancement or progress because, as soon as you unlock a new weapon, by the time you can actually buy the damn thing, it's already basically obsolete. The "crafting" system is also horrendous and shows VERY clearly how little playtesting and balancing went into this game. ProTip: Don't even build any weapons until you have like 20 or so engineers; not even remotely worth it.

Also, just to say it, increasing Block, Dodge and Crit past their caps, in order to get HP, literally ONLY makes sense when ALL THREE of those things are capped. This is because all 3 of those stats give the same exact HP gains (regardless of basically everything, it seems). It's not like, once you cap Crit, more points in Crit will give you relatively more HP than putting those same points into Dodge or Block. It's misleading to keep driving home the point that you can keep putting points into, say, capped Crit, for HP benefits, when that will literally only matter if Dodge and Block are also capped. If I had to make a suggestion, for the sequel, I'd say flat-out stop players from being able to put points into capped stats (if you still insist on capping...) and, instead, just have a (uncappable) Health stat, for the sake of clarity.

Please stop saying that Crit/Dodge/Block does something (+HP) past the cap! I think you're missing the point here. Just dropping a stat cap on players, with NO WARNING, is not the way to go about things. If I really like the Block game--and also put my leveling-up points into Block--then, out of nowhere, I get Block Capped and it doesn't make as much sense for me to play the Block mini game anymore. That's frankly a bad way to do things (especially considering how mind-numbingly dull and exploitive the "Crit" game is). Using this example, if I *knew* there was a cap, I'd just put my leveling-up points into something that's not Block, so I don't cap as quickly and waste time. Something as simple as displaying "21.52%/30%" for Crit (and related % capped stats) on the Hero screen, would make basically this whole problem go away. Please don't repeat this mistake with the sequel! Otherwise great game!

I have no idea how people are achieving 1,000+ Block Combos, unless their computers are slowing down to the point where that's relatively-easily achievable. I'm struggling to get above 200, currently, because I inevitably hit "full speed apple barrage" and have too many apples coming from too many directions--simultaneously--to reliably block them all.

Great game! Kind of frustrating that everything besides Strength caps at unknown (until you cap them) percentages, though. It really just leaves dumping all your points into Strength as being the only meaningful option. I spent a *lot* of early levels putting points into Crit only to hit the 30% cap and then have my Dodge training option essentially become useless.

Developer response from SoulGame

Mmmh, don't forget to consider that beside the % chances, Dodges, Criti and Block increase Health! Which is super important

Last Thought: It really doesn't make sense that you need to spend points in Magic, to unlock more Magic Spells at the Merchant but you DO NOT need to spend points in Sword Attack, to unlock "Sword Attack" abilities! I'd STRONGLY recommend "Talent Trees" or similar, in future Sequels, to make things more interesting (yes, Talent Trees are overdone but they're overdone because they work and are generally interesting/rewarding). On a similar note, GIVE THE HP UPGRADE ANOTHER BONUS. Why it only gives +10hp when both of the other upgrades (Sword Attack and Magic) ALSO give secondary bonuses (i.e. crit % and cooldown reduction) is beyond me. It's not like +HP is "just that good," either. I finished the game with 0 HP upgrades no problem...

Also, summoned creatures (i.e. the skeletons the energy-ball mages spawn) should NOT give EXP and items! It's VERY easy to just find a room with 2-3 Mages and let them summon endless amounts of Skeletons for you to kill. Once you realize you can do it, spending ~10 minutes farming Skeletons becomes DRAMATICALLY more time-efficient than running all over the map clearing rooms (after you find the stairs). As I mentioned in my first Comment, this problem is made worse by the fact that there is NO incentive to really explore... give the Treasure Chests random stat upgrades or something, to encourage people to want them!

My $.o2 (wall of text inc)... Pretty great foundation of a game with a lot of potential (for the inevitable sequel)... but there are a few GLARING issues. Bosses are boring since they all amount to "you don't get to do anything for 60 seconds until the Boss randomly decides to let you hit him for 3 seconds... then repeat 4-5 times." Random spawn Merchant is REALLY frustrating, especially when you don't see him for a while and have to fight bosses with 10k+ money on you. Melee vs Magic is horribly unbalanced... and that's even taking into account how many useless and/or redundant spells there are. Bombs are pointless and terrible. Running around through empty rooms is AWFUL (add a speed boost for cleared rooms!). Do *SOMETHING* to make Treasure Chests exciting! Having EVERY Chest give you money and HP potions is BORING. Add random stat upgrades or something (weapon/armor slots in sequel??) to make hunting chests worthwhile! Overall pretty decent game, though.

LOL, the game automatically pauses, when it's not in the main/active browser window so you are *FORCED* to sit through and watch the "cinematic" fights where you literally have ZERO CONTROL OF ANYTHING ON SCREEN. God forbid you let the player PLAY something (or at least check email or something while this "game" wastes your time). What a joke. 1 star all day long.

Not sure how this game is averaging nearly 4 stars. It's fun, at first, and then you realize it's just one enormous grind. Your "team" is completely useless, because of terrible AI, and every single level amounts to same thing... "run around until your special attacks are off cooldown." Quite a letdown. :(

Great game, excellent sequel... shame that the later (longer) levels seem to be completely ruined by "lag." I'll probably stop playing, after I get the badges, literally just because the "lag" is so frustrating. What a shame.

Also, to reiterate something that was already said (and possibly said many times)... HEROIC RUSH IS TERRIBLE. Just REMOVE the "RUSH" part *OR* make it so, while you're "rushing forward" new enemies don't spawn. It is beyond-ridiculous that this ability--which is supposed to get you out of a bad situation--literally just plops you down into the middle of a WORSE situation. It honestly makes me wonder if things like this were even tested, before publishing the game. It's so blatantly counter-productive that it's a blemish on an otherwise fantastic experience.

Great game! A few critiques: The end boss(es) leave a lot to be desired. Even if this is a more "casual" shooter/scroller, the ending leaves you wondering "really, that's it?" (and not in a good way). Similarly, Survival is boring, with Kong's Hard badge (reach 3k distance) feeling more like a chore than an accomplishment. Ramping up the difficulty--and maybe changing the color of enemies, to signify they're now tougher--would go a long way towards making things interesting. Finally, PLEASE ADD SOME SORT OF WAY TO ABANDON SOLDIERS YOU DON'T WANT (click on their picture?). If I have too many rockets, for example, having to purposely try and kill them off, to get other soldiers is, frankly, kind of dumb. Overall a great game, though!

Related Note: The Abyss of Darkness is a fun concept that is, much like the Archers, sort of pointless, as far as its upgrades go. Because there's no Survival mode (or any terribly-long levels, period), you are *never* able to take advantage of its "gets stronger as it kills stuff" skill. That 600ish gold is *much* better off just being used to build another tower because, ultimately, you'll get a *lot* more damage by doing that. As for the little shadow guy you can build/level, again, it's fun but, honestly, it doesn't serve much purpose--there are just far too many monsters to deal with for the 600+ gold you sink into getting max-rank for *one* guy to be worthwhile.

Critique: A *lot* of units/upgrades seem to be useless. After you get a few skill points, you really don't need skeletons for anything (because the summon x3 skill is *so* good). I found even max'd skeletons to be pretty terrible because, on most levels (especially harder difficulties!) there are too many monsters for the skeletons to deal with... so everything just runs past them. It's dumb. I also don't really understand what the Skeleton archers are for; it feels like someone just thought it'd be cool to have them but they serve no real purpose. Also, the Archer upgrades for Frost and Poison Archers are terrible. You're *literally* best off not getting any of them (just buy more archers!) and, since the Poison deals much more damage than the Frost, the Frost Archer is basically pointless (his super-expensive utility is pretty bad). The game could use a balance pass, honestly.

MAJOR GRIPE: The timer for how much gold you get for sending a wave early should *NOT* start before you send the first wave! It's kind of obnoxious that you lose 1 gold *literally* 1 second into the game--before the map even loads/the houses pop up--even if you're spamming the Enter button to send the first wave! There's no "skill" involved in having to click like a madman... this oversight *really* shouldn't exist. It's especially bad with new levels, where you want to think through a strategy... it basically *forces* you to restart every map once you think of a strategy on said map (so you don't start out "losing" 30 gold). Please update/fix!
