What's the point of weapon "upgrades" if all they do is barely give any extra boost to one weapon stat, while lowering several others? It's like modern medicines.. cure one ailment while suffering a dozen 'side effects'.
NOTE CON'T: The game does seem good, but it feels like things were left off halfway, else make a note for new players that they simply cannot advance beyond certain points without partying up with others.
Just a small critique: The game starts out somewhat linear, exposing the player to the world, then opens up nearly completely, which is fine, however; only a few quests have "Difficulty Level" indications for them, and several of the seemingly random dungeon areas contain enemies that have impossibly high stats. I'm sure the game worked fine when there were many players present to join forces and overcome these challenges, but seriously, when you go from one map with enemies that a solo player can take out with marginal difficulty, to the very next map over and encounter monsters with over 20 or even 50 times your HP, with no warning or indication of their strength, it becomes a chore to search everywhere and attempt to find the next intended part of the game. Couple this with the inability to acquire stronger weapons (unless you pay $) and the complete lack of defensive armaments, and you have a recipe for a lackluster attempt at a seemingly decent MMORPG.
Day 26 - After having fully realized all possible avenues of research involving various tools and foods (and my own research upgrades) I mistakenly 'killed' my first specimen, only to replace her with her twin sister, conveniently located within the Storage Room. Incidentally, they had very similar tastes and hobbies, which made my research progress significantly faster and allowed me to continue my work without much of a setback. Or maybe I should 'kill' more of them to see if that helps..?
Well, I wanted to come back and keep going on the game, but suddenly, "You need a Kongregate account to play this awesome game!"... except I AM logged in to Kong, and the Register/Login buttons do nothing. Fun.
Let's see.. This guy possess dark vision, naturally induced rage symptoms, an endless supply of self sustained stamina, ability to carry multiple weapons (complete with quick reload capability for each), the power to turn combusted petrol into cash, and you don't even wanna know where he keeps all that ammunition hidden! If only things would be this easy in a "Zombpocalypse" scenario. xD
Replay level 11 with Homing+Split on your weapons to get the "Kill enemies with X" achievements the quickest and easiest, you don't even need to move for the entire level!
Controls were a bit touchy, however, the feel of the game reminded me of MetalStorm on NES (which was a fantastic stand alone for its time!). The spunky soundtrack kept the pace alive even as I *facedesk* over and over to baaaaarely make it through the next crazy jump, only to meet the next challenge. I'm glad this got badges. A very well thought out game!
The instructions weren't overly clear, or perhaps I missed some detail of the procedure, and so it wasn't until level 1-9 when I had the "Ah-Ha!" moment of how the game truly works. A fun puzzler, to say the least.
Hmm, a bit buggy still. When I encountered the Ogre the game froze, so I tried to check comments on if it was only me, and now the game is stuck on the menu screen.. trying to Resume causes the sound/music to become erratic, aside from not actually resuming the game, and trying to Go Back to Camp causes the screen transition to occur over and over without end. Was fun while it lasted. :/
"I will show you true depression...!!!" - possibly the most bizarre confrontational line I've ever heard in relation to investigative procedure. The humor of this series is legit. xD
Why why WHY do the eggs disappear after a few seconds?? That's just downright cruel when we have to manually pick them up with slow, controlled hovering of the cursor! >_<
Okay.. Suicidal Elven Freedom Fighters.. did not see that one coming. xD Interesting concept to a defense-based game, though I agree a "speed up" or "send more waves" option would make this much better.
Quite enjoyable! My only complaint is that I was unable to utilize helicopters (perhaps the browser is use is to blame) whenever I also had trucks to use. For some reason or other, my right click does nothing. On the Islands levels, with only helicopters there is no problem, they simply act as the trucks, but I am unable to use both at the same time. That being said, I was still able to get the Hard badge by dominating the field on Level 20. Good game. Will there be a Part 3???
This game was a finely spun web of intrigue, drama, mysticism and science fiction when it came out, and still is by today's comparisons. Flash may be outdated, but stories like this, which give customizable action shooter mixed with CYOD game play make for lasting impressions that at once inspire the imagination and bring us back for more, time and time again. Thank you xdanond!
