The game isn't too hard in the general difficulty setting. Just get past level 15 and get the antimatter sheild in your bonus upgrades. Get all of the reduced damage bonus upgrades too. Whenever you can, buy extra the energy infuser upgrade and it will be a lot easier. The last boss just takes a long time to kill.

@Twitch1 Maybe your planes don't move sometimes because both rudders are jammed or a rudder is jammed. To view this, scroll over a plane. It should say so under the health bar.
