Great concept, and great levels. The graphics are nicely basic, but the guide line should be a little more sleek.
A couple levels are a little more tedious than they should be. Add a marking system so we can mark where we previously shot. As is, I'm putting my thumb on my screen to keep track of precision flaming.
Oh, and I *love* the 44 joke on Channukah. I hope other people get that too. : )
challenge to skyboy: design an asteroids game that uses a disc playing field instead of a rectangle. Will require some nifty algorithm to reassign coordinates as the asteroid leaves the playing field. Should be fun, and not too difficult with the right system. : )
There's space that can't be seen. An asteroid will leave the screen and not reappear on the opposite side for a while, especially if it's traveling nearly vertically.
These levels are obnoxious. They require not skill but sheer obstinance in being within just a couple pixels of the right spot.
This is exactly why you don't let amateur gamers do a professional game-designer's job.
The save system is obnoxious. I had it finished with 20 lives remaining, but when Firefox crashed, the save reverted to an old version. Then I got back almost to where I was before...and Firefox crashed again. You need to write to the save file more frequently.
Good updates, and I'm glad to see you did some editing, though it still needs a bit more. You should have someone specifically look it over for spelling and grammer issues before you release the game. Actually, that goes for anything you publish, not just your resume and thesis...
Transitions were a great touch. The mirrored cursor added some vague novelty and challenge as well. And I second the motion that the floor rarely being part of the differences was obnoxious.
"Where do you think your going?"
Can we say editing? You're = you are. Where do you think YOU'RE going?
The story is nice, but there's a hell of a lot of text for not much of a story. Cut down on the text. Make the same point with fewer words, or no one will read it.
Nice start. Instead of refining this, try making a new game in a new direction to see what you can do. It'll expand your abilities much more effectively.
Actually, I like the peaceful balance with the music, but maybe the music should accelerate as the gameplay accelerates.
The gameplay itself is awful. The bullets are too small. Clicking them is not a fun challenge but an obnoxious challenge. The pointer changing colors is also obnoxious, as it often fades into the background color, and then I have no idea what I'm doing. The game structure is interesting, but it needs a lot of tweaking.
