You can only use the turret gun once as it is a support weapon that is, like a turret in those Tower Defence games. Once it is destroyed, the only way to place it again is to reload your save file

Zombies is a general umbrella term that specifically includes anything that is undead ie any ex-living thing that is supposed to be dead but yet alive. Thus, it can mean undead homo sapiens, dogs, cats, spiders and et cetera.
The gauss shotgun is the best.. 100% pure power with its streaking blue bullets that 1 hit KO the lesser zombies.. However the lack of an auto shot function really increases the risk of Carpel's Tunnel Syndrome... xD
