go with plus sword or armor
than do the hardest areas first and level your armor, speed and sword.
when you have 4-5 areas, fight the matches but dont win, you still have your gold so buy whatever you need. be sure to get a charge troop and a spam troop.
@tiny Sadly, no. There are no upgrades as far as I know.
@quinn You can use acid phosphate like an antidote. You can get it from the shop, and Quilltoads drop them during the Steam City mission. Or you could wait until it expires.
