Yes, indeed. The (state-controlled) Turkish news media was not allowed to show any footage of the protests. Instead, they showed a documentary on penguins, so the penguin has been adopted as a symbol of the protesters. Also, every night at 9pm, the people who dislike the current government bang on pots and pans to show their support for the protesters.
