Description

Don't be fooled by the melancholic music, this is a very gracious thank you to the Kongregate community for their support of the original "foggy fields!":http://www.kongregate.com/games/devwil/foggy-fields-play-create-listen

foggy fields is a game with very diverse influences. Roots in games such as Otocky, Rez, Lumines, and Chime are evident, but the game is also heavily inspired by composers such as John Cage, Steve Reich, and Philip Glass, the game’s title being derived from a quote from Glass about composing music.

In foggy fields, the lines between player, composer, and audience become blurred. The music is paradoxically pre-determined and random, as well as being fully interactive.

How to Play

In foggy fields, you control an orb that is attached to a beatline. As the beatline moves across the screen, so will you. You can, however, move up and down by using arrow keys, the 'W' and 'S' keys, or holding the shift key and using the mouse.

When you click the left mouse button, you will begin to charge up shots, which will be released when you unclick your mouse. These shots will go in the direction of the position of the last place your cursor was on the screen.

Shoot the blocks in each stage to energize them. When they reach full energy, they will make sounds in rhythm with the other music. Fully energize all of the blocks in a stage to move to the next stage.

As you are playing the game, be careful not to run your orb into any other objects, as this will cause you to lose progress.

Really Nice ! As I said the other day, you're one of the only games in this contest that actually fits the requirements. You actually make music by playing, not just load music AND THEN play something, or just make music but not play, or just play while listening to music. And in this bonus track the end result is particularly beautiful, which isn't an easy thing to achieve since most of it is player-controlled.
A little problem I have though : the fact that sometimes when I click the timeline doesn't shoot. I'm guessing this is to keep everything in rythm, but you can probably find a better way to do that. It's sometimes a bit frustrating when you have to shoot those green obstacles and nothing comes out so you have to start over.

@contrebasse_: thanks for the positive comments! there is a rhythmic component to the game, and all shots are quantized to make sure the notes are in rhythm. so, yeah, there can be a delay.

After the orb shot the blocks the blocks were sad so he asked whats wrong. The blocks said they never did anything to the orb and to stop hurting them.So the orb obeyed. But later people longed for the orbs music but they could not covince the orb to shoot the blocks anymore. So they ended up using wepons that acully killed on the blocks teaching a leason to the remaining blocks.Deal with what you have or you'll have something worse.
