As the game stands now, I didn't even move. I just sat in one place and pushed spacebar every second and a half and got up to 1,000. Definitely slow the movement of the character down, and add some enemies that go from side to side or some enemies that shoot. That way you have to move. Also, add a reason to keep playing.

the enemies should be randomized. or at least a longer loop.

the joystick controls are inverted and like Darvious said you just have to sit still and whack the space bar :/ my advice would be to learn how to make games, learn what makes a game a game, and then enter game contests. Right now you're doing it backwards, you cant enter a design contest and _then_ learn how to design.
