Description

Row out onto a dark lake with a lantern, a rod and the feeling that something below is watching.

Night Lake is a calm, eerie fishing game. Cast your float, watch it bob in the lantern light and strike when it goes under. Every fish fights back: keep the line out of the red, lean the rod against the pull and bring it to the boat.

Sell your catch at the dock, buy better baits and tackle, finish the night’s quests and row on to new waters: a jungle bayou, a frozen lake, a flooded quarry, a ruined mill pond, a glowworm cave and more, each with its own fish and sounds.

But the lake is not empty. The lantern stutters, the crickets fall silent and a shadow longer than your boat glides underneath. Monsters need their own bait and strong gear, and they can tow your boat across the water. Every lake hides a legend that only rises for the right bait after midnight.

- Float fishing, spinning lures and feeder fishing
- Trophy and Unique sizes to chase in your Field Guide
- Lake monsters and a legend in every lake
- A map of every lake, found in bottles
- A second rod, a pond that earns while you are away, daily gifts
- In English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, German or French

Progress saves automatically, no account needed.

Age rating: 12+ (tense atmosphere, no blood or gore). Made by a solo developer: the scenery, maps and fish motion are drawn in code; fish pictures, the fisherman, item icons and sounds were made with AI tools and finished by hand.

How to Play

Hold Left Click on the water to aim, release to cast.
Click or Space when the float really goes under, then hold to reel in.
In a fight, keep the tension out of the red and hold A/D to lean the rod away from the fish.
Row with W/S and A/D (or the arrow keys), or Right Click the water to row there.
E opens the dock shop at the dock. H shows all the other keys in the game.

Night Lake v1.28.3 – Smoother co-op: see your friends fish
CO-OP YOU CAN SEE
- Other players’ boats now leave a wake and foam on the water as they row, and their lantern lights the lake around them.
- You see their whole cast: the float flies in its arc and splashes where it lands.
- Bites, strikes, leaps and the end of a fight show on the water for everyone: rings when the float goes under, the fish jumping out, the line reddening under strain.
- Far boats no longer vanish in the fog on phones.

SMOOTHER AND FASTER
- Boats glide instead of stepping, even on a weak connection, and no longer jump backwards.
- A friend’s fast travel shows as a quick fade, not a slide across the land.
- Boats no longer overlap when they bump into each other.

Your progress is kept as always. Tight lines, and see you on the lake!

When catching a fish the meter goes to 0.6m and just freezes there until the blue bar at the top empties. No matter how quickly you reel in the fish it will not actually catch it until that top bar is empty for some reason.

Thanks a lot for reporting this, it was a real problem! Until now the line could reach 0.6 m while the fish still had strength, so it looked frozen. It's fixed in today's update: a fish with strength left now fights about 2 m from the boat and tires quickly there, and once the blue bar is empty it comes straight in. Good tackle also tires fish faster now. Thanks for helping make Night Lake better!

Is there a way to use mouse only? If not, may I suggest right clicking and using the mouse to guide where to go? Not sure how hard it would be to do, but would love to see that option. Other than that, fun game and very relaxing!

Thank you for playing and for the kind words! Right now the boat moves with WASD or the arrow keys, but your idea is a great one: we're adding mouse-only rowing in the next update — right-click the water to row there, or hold right-click to steer toward the cursor. Tight lines!

Game is too slow, also it should be allowed to complete multiple quests at the same time, otherwise it only worsen randomness

SolidBuild

Thanks for the honest feedback! You're right about quests: right now only the one you pick counts, which can feel random when the lake gives you other fish. Letting all three quests on the board count at the same time is a good idea, and I'm looking into it for the next update. About the pace: could you tell me which part felt slow, the waiting for a bite, rowing, or the fights? Good tackle does make fights much shorter, but I'd like to know where it dragged for you. Tight lines!

What would i like to see next in Night Lake?
- Add maps for the lakes and a bigger lake.. about twice larger.
Like i see..., //integrate this with the bottles floating around.
Players starts with the first lake map in hand and would stumble upon a bottle containing a well preserved Map for the Next Lake. On that map would be some basic infos about:
- biomes around,
- the location of the dock.
-Our actual location.
Yep! :D

Thanks ZeKreatur, this is a great idea! Lake maps are now on our list. We’d like each lake to have its own map showing the dock, the named areas from the sign by the clock and where you are. We love the bottle idea too: finding a lake’s map in a bottle near its dock when you first arrive feels just right for Night Lake. A bigger lake is a good wish as well; we’ll keep it in mind for a future lake rather than stretching the old ones. Tight lines!

Hey everyone!

First of all, thank you for playing Night Lake. Every comment, rating and bug report means a lot to me. I make this game on my own, and seeing you out on the water every night keeps me going.

I also want to say sorry for the problems some of you ran into: the long waits for a bite, the Reed Wraith that wouldn’t take the lure, and the other bugs you reported. Most of them are fixed now, and I’m still working through the rest.
As a thank you, something is coming in a few days, made the Night Lake way. Somewhere the pumpkins burn all night, a bell rings where no bell hangs, and not everything floating on the water is a pumpkin.
One thing I want to be clear about: there are no in-app purchases. Everything new is bought only with the coins you earn by fishing. No real money, no shortcuts.

A tip if you play on a computer: try Settings > Realistic. From now on it is where the biggest differences are: living water, weather on every lake, trees an

and reeds moving in the wind, and much more life under the surface. If your computer handles it, you’ll see the lakes in a whole new way. I keep improving the graphics all the time, so the game looks better with every update, right in your browser. You shouldn’t have to download a huge game just to see something beautiful. If there’s something you’d love to see for Halloween, tell me in the comments. There’s still time to add a few of your ideas. Thanks again, and tight lines!
