The last half of the game is a joke if you use the 3 way machine gun, both drones, and the air mines. v1.5 had a bad difficulty ramp, but this one, as long as you pick the right weapons you should do fine.

used a dual machine gun, a sniper cannon, and 3 mine towers for the last free campaign.
