"Your girlfriend wants to take your helicopter for a ride." Errrrrrrm ... well, baby, okay, errrrrrrm, but mind the sidewinder ... noooo, not that red button! Arrrrrrg!
I liked it, 4/5! Here are a few hints why it wasn´t a 5/5: 1) too short, too easy. 2) maybe you´ll find a way that trade still makes sense later on in the game. I came to the point, where I had zillions but too few war points. 3) Speaking of it: The game needs an "auto battle" option for farming war points. I don´t need to watch when my three lineships attack some fisherboats. 4) Also, the "story" is pretty thin, a few more storytelling elements (at least a final video) would greatly improve the game experience. 5) You also need to fine adjust the difficulty - after you get the basics, you can´t lose anymore. Maybe think about including a difficulty-menu (rookie, pirate, dutchman-hunter) in the sequel?
There are only two good thing to say about this game: Nice graphics and in the beginning a glimpse of atmosphere that is soon destroyed by an incredibly crappy story that begins with the missile. From this moment on the game becomes increasingly ridiculous. So there are super-mega-secret scientists breeding giant ants while being protected by 13 ballistic missiles? Oh my goodness, I can´t stand the horror! And when it comes to the gameplay I absolutely agree with ikanlol and EPR 89, no need to repeat all of that. Back to the drawing board, guys!
I really liked this game and played it in all three difficulties! Because I liked it so much, here some small remarks to make it even better: 1) I would appreciate a "pause"-button - especially in the beginning you don´t get enough time to make the right decisions. 2) You should be able to access the "training"-menu through the "character"-menu and vice versa. It gets annoying to exit an enter the menus all the time. Same for the quest-menu, where I recommend a "back"-button. 3) "Training" needs a queue option! At least as soon as you discovered "Advanced Training" the clicking gets very annoying. 4) Recruiting only makes sense very early in the game. Even unique characters I got later never caught up to my "uncommon" characters that were steadily trained. This needs better balancing. Unique characters should rock the party and not running behind!
What I love about this kind of games: Great atmosphere and pictures. What I hate: Endless clicking for the last freaking clue that´s hiding behind 5 dark squarepixels!
@Fredrikshald: as in real life, a treaty with Italy (green) is a mistake. ;-) you have to land on the southern landmass early, secure Niamey and hold it. Then push on west and capture Bangui. the territory around these two cities will give you exactly the missing armies you need to win the war in the north. When you stabilised the front there, take down green, then red.
Another good one: 371757 with green on hard. Took me two attempts: First, it looks easy, but the supply routes are pretty long, so it´s very hard to take blue down first (which you must) while battling off the other two.
Oh, and while we´re at it: What´s the point of the freaking home base anyway if you can´t retreat to your own or destroy the enemy´s??? I tell you: There´s no point! It´s just THERE. Badly drawn and shady. I can´t believe this game got so many badges. 2/5
Way too unbalanced! And what´s the bs that you can´t order retreat, advance, hold? Every time I start with a knight, my army has to spend the whole fight in reach of the enemy´s tower! No sir, that´s no good,
I would REALLY appreciate an auto-save function or at least a working save function. I just lost a progress of 8 leves though I´m pretty sure I saved...
