Ben's reply: It says in the instructions what happens if you die. I know most MMORPGs are nice to you and if you die then you dont really get. But I wanted to make it more realistic and players to be actually afraid to die. In real life you would think twice about risking your life and yes, if you crossed the road without looking and got hit by a bus, then you wouldnt be able to just restart with full health.
User: Everything was perfect, until..I've played non-stop for 2 days this game. Amazing, only one problem that pissed me off so bad I never wanna see this game again in my life, and i'm pretty sure a lot of you will eventually end up doing this mistake:
There I was, buying crap, with over 300 kills, a very nice ship, auto-reload hyperspace and tons of quests finished. I felt like a pro. There was only one problem: I was always buying life even thou I was not quite sure what would happen if I didn't. Then one day I just forgot to buy an extra life while trying to leave an ambush. I died and guess what message appeared? "Game Over. Your account has been reseted." Nice work =P So much work put into an almost perfect game to piss off anyone that makes this silly mistake. I wonder what would happen if MMORPG games would simply DELETE your character in case you forgot to put a bullet prof vest on it =P
Thanks for wasting my time
*He rated the game as a zero
Ok, I just hope that after this, there be no more talk about the lives system. I found this at the newgrounds comment of DG. I hope you take some time to read through everything from a user and the developer/Ben.
therealwest - forced lock was discussed quite a while back, it is random for a reason (though I cannot recall properly the full info, it's more of MP issues at most). MP has a different check at the main site, they have a ranking on top mp kills.
Please, for those that say "it sucks", please give a good explanation why it sucks. That way, it can be improved upon. Constructive criticism please. This isn't American Idol, even Simon for all his worth speaks the truth that may hurt but you can improve on that.
801 at most will just take you like 4-5 days. Trust me, just venture near the enemy space or do a lot of clearance missions when they are available, and kill all enemies.
Weapons - if you got a ship with 4 reg weapon slots and you buy a new ship with 2 reg weapons, which will be the weapons transferred?
UVB don't do anything if they have invincibility. I've been fighting against hackers for quite a long time. They survive against anything. You clearly underestimate how they actually do it, if you say large weapons can kill them.
SSGohpom - I appreciate your concern in the hacker war and all, but how do you intend to fight hackers, when you cannot even kill them? Unless you plan to hack to fight them... but it will be a draw no matter what. And we don't condone with the idea of hacks to fight hacks. It just allows more windows of opportunity for people to actually hack more. Take a look at stick arena...
These hackers have hackpacks that enhances ship statistics, giving them unfair advantages like infinite energy, etc. Do not follow such if you can. They are normally found at MP sectors. So, be glad the game's not all MP or you'll get hacker attack on starting sectors of newbies. Just imagine such a chaos. But if you do see or hear a hacker, be vigilant, ignore them and report to me, Kakkoi, Caesar, Piper or any member of the DGHC. We'll take a look at it and do measures to control such. But the best defense is to ignore and leave the MP sector as soon as possible, so their hacks will become obsolete, without anybody to use it on.
Do you guys really enjoy carebear like games? At least if you die here, you got 9 more lives to go and you can buy them again. Monster's Den was 1 life = game over.
Besides, all of this has been thought about, the game isn't for the weak of heart & mind. That's what makes the game good. The risk factor that old games had is here.
What's the problem with the life system? it's not like you cannot rebuy the lives lost. If you don't have the money to manage it, then find some way to increase the gains and minimize deaths. Besides, normally pros have a minimum life count check that if it falls below that, we buy lives ASAP.
Adding to that, you CAN always buy lives, its only negligence, foolishness and downright noobish to actually get reset especially if you know you would.
Davage - you need to make an account, all you need is a username and password, you don't need an email add, it's just for failsafe moments when you need to retrieve your account.
discostupid - that's because the server is not tied to Kongregate. You can't blame it on that. Accounts are far too easy to make anyway, unless you were playing a guest account
Kasumi, thank Ben that he didn't make this game purely MP, otherwise, hackers would really rule the game. They can only do so in MP sectors, just ignore them and they'll go away. The life system is actually good, as it allows people to take risks and all. Recent MMOs are too user-friendly and carebear like that the essence of actually losing out something important is overshadowed by MMO's loss of minor xp (which can be re obtained eventually)
Can we stop with the hacking accusations for the moment? Stop using the comment section for that. And Caesar's way above editing pictures (though he is capable), he doesn't have anything to gain from that.
