I pushed an update today to hopefully solve the problem of not gaining Tachyons after a few groundhogs. I can't really test this locally, so if you are still affected, please send me a PM so I know if it still happens! (P.S.: reloading might also help sometimes when you had connection issues)
This game is an exercise in frustration. Which is a shame, because the art is great and the basic mechanics are all in place. The pacing is totally off. For example, it takes forever to unlock new jobs, which are barely paying more than previous jobs, if you look at $/s.
We increased the damage amounts that wizards and axe wielders do to buildings, and added rally flags to allow you to control exactly where your soldiers go! Try V0.9 and let us know what you think!
Very nice twist on the runner-genre! At the risk of destroying the great simplicity, I wish there was some kind of simple checkpoint-system, so that one can avoid the boring first 15-30 seconds.
The story was too predictable.
*Spoiler*
Already in chapter 1 it seemed clear that the murderer was a vampire (blood fetish, bottle on head, escape through 4th floor window). I hoped for a twist, but was disappointed (well, there was a twist - the window in the underground bunker. That sucked.). Still think this has potential, but more work needs to go into interestingness and consistency of the story.
I really like the game. But after a while the main challenge is to gain a huge number of souls without bringing your computer to standstill. 4/5, will change to 5/5 if you manage to make it more interesting when having high stats - though I have no idea how.
I like the new buildings, but it has the same problem as the first version: buildings take up too much of the map. This makes it hard to get resources, and the middle of the town is dead anyway, because it's too far away from any resources. I think there should be a higher distance between stashes, and also a minimum distance between the building clusters around stashes - so you get many smaller towns instead of one mostly useless monstercity.
They're all placeholder values but you're right; many ppl are letting us know their frustration with the balancing. Alpha pains!
