The actual game has upgrades (not super upgrades but still) and a LOT more maps, plus the ability to play custom maps, and make your own. Totally worth the $10.
if(_x < -2110) { _x = 600; } repositions the background just off screen for a smooth looping effect instead of having it pop into being at 0 offset, but hooray these tutorials are great so far, thanks. =D
Played the full game at a buddy's house, thinking hard about shelling out the $10 for it. I've already gotten a few hours out of it and I'm not even close to finished with it, so it seems totally worth it.
Skullwipe, you can beat all the maps without the pay content, so since you can complete the game for free... see where I'm going with this? Don't bag on a studio for trying to earn a living.
This game has the same drawback as the stand-alone shareware version, and every other comment so far mentions it - monsters quickly outstrip the pace at which you can upgrade your defense's damage. Can't afford to beat them. Sorry, it's just not fun.
I really like it, new twist on the TD genre with RTS elements. I'm hoping the 'official' version has more of a tech tree, but for a 'demo' this is pretty kick-ass.
Normally I would post something really mean (but kinda prodding the dev to finish it) but the snake blew me away, totally wasn't expecting that. I was like "WHAT IS THAT, IS THAT SOMETHING NEW IN A TD?!?!?!" and then my head exploded and my monitor caught on fire and The Man brought my tv back and even APOLOGISED. What I'm saying is, work on the graphics and the speed and maybe provide an upgrade path for the towers and you are golden.
So then this 'Developer' leaves a shout on my profile, haha. Yeah buddy, I *do* feel like a genius, because I haven't posted the same game 10,000 other people have and tried to pass it off as 'mine'.
Hey great job on your unique take on the tower defense genre OH WAIT I SEE YOU USED THE WALTER REID TUTORIAL LIKE 10,000 OTHER PEOPLE DID 1/5.
Take what you learn from the tutorial and build your own, because I love new TD games. I don't love the same TD game over and over. This is not yours. Stop it.
1/5 because you used Walter Reid's TD tutorial as the base for this, rather than using it to learn and then making your own. I love TD games. I don't love this one, since I've played it or seen it 5000 times already.
So my first comment was pretty negative in general (not rude, just negative) but I don't want to discourage you from making more, the game is ALMOST good, I think. I think the weakness system is what is killing this, too many types of strong-vs and weak-vs and it seems kind of tacked on. Maybe change the weaknesses to a different attribute of the bugs (size, or color, or something) and reduce the #. (small medium large, light medium dark etc).
Very first time playing, first map on easy, level 30... I killed all the creeps. No cheating, either. Then like 2 levels later I got a ton of leaks and died, go figure. Balance seems really difficult in this game - you have towers that are strong/weak vs x types, but no idea what the bulk of the enemies are... targeting is kinda poor too, seeming to favor oldest or something instead of 'closest to exit'. I dunno, I want to like this game but I just don't. =/
Ok, I'm finding the hard mode considerably harder than the hard modes of the first 3, which were already ridiculously hard. I've tried the first map on hard over and over and I'm done, it's too much aggravation finding the exact right combo of towers while trying to build up a fledgeling banana farm complex. Done.
You know the kred system is to help run the site, help generate a profit so they have a REASON to run the site, and to help the developers buy ramen noodles so THEY have a reason to make more games, right?
Look, Mr. TenThousandthPersonToUseThisEngine, code your own. Hey by all means tear this engine apart and see how it works, but then CODE YOUR OWN. I am so tired of seeing game number 10,001 that is 99% the same as the first 10,000.
