Whoa. Compared to any of the previous classes(not counting siege ballista OFC), Longbow Archers rule. Projectile spamming FTW. and they even have good range. Keeping that sucky archer was well worth it.
When selecting units, it's better to use the number keys instead of the mouse. this way you can select units that are currently offscreen without having to scroll all the way back to them, and it also reduces the chance of ppl accidentally double-clicking a spy or a heli-T and destroying their entire team. People who care, please keep this comment alive. I'm getting tired of ppl saying they accidentally blew up their team.
@brandonf123: Rune Blade, obtained in the treasure chest at the second last screen(right before the boss) of the arctic/polar/ice region(or whatever it is) just hog the walls.
For some reason my bullets just "go through" zombies that are less than 2 feet away from me... i think there's a problem with the way the bullets travel.
Protip: using the number keys instead of the mouse to select units minimalizes the chance of you accidentally clicking on a spy twice and killing your entire team.
So to sum up, most missions can be beaten with:
1. A spy to rescue civilians and destroy forts(note: enemies only notice spies if the spy is in their red circle AND can see the spy, therefore it's safe to enter the red circle from behind)
2. A flier(either heli-G or heli-R) to collect stars and maneuver
3. A non-explosive sniping unit(rifleman, commando, or heli-G. Veterans are WAY too destructive) to rid baddies without killing civilians with collateral damage.(friendly fire is off, so normal bullets go right through civs and peevs. Explosions and debris, on the other hand...)
4. A high-power demolisher(tank, artillery,spy, or heli-R) to destroy forts, tanks, copters etc.
Or less. Number 3 is pretty much a must though.
So i was blazing through a stage with flying colors, near-flawlessly rescuing civs and peevs while sniping the baddies with my spy and commando, and all that's left are some heli-Rs.
Then i decided to run a challenge by sniping them with my bazooka guy, so i went (too) close, the heli noticed, shot a rocket, i jumped, the rocket went right to my spy, and it was too late for me to press refresh.
Rest in peace General Jean, we will miss you.
The oath of vengeance has been sworn. I shall not rest until the baddies feel 100000000000000000000000000000000 times the pain she felt.
5/5, even though i never played the first this is awesome. 'nuff said.
