Got to stage 2 getting hit only once. But like many games where you must restart over and over again, you gotta give us something for it, like using score points in a saloon as currency for something like increased reflexes (25% chance to auto defend) or heavier clothing to absorb more hits before getting dmg, or each enemy passed restores health or something.
A little back story or reference wouldn't hurt either, I've never read a story of a samurai running across deserts deflecting bullets from gun wielding bandits that suddenly appear for no particular reason.
It's a pretty fun game, there is a slight issue with inventory slots become unusable. Occasionally an item will disappear from your inventory, saving and reloading fixes the issue, but it doesn't fix the unusable slots.
I'd like to point out things that cost money that are free in just about every game:
You can scroll in the news menu instead of just being able to see only the first for given section. When an attack has been sent to you, you will see visual notification on every page. You can use the advanced filter at the Market. be able to see generalized information about all of your planets - current resources, buildings in progress, ships, sciences, current fleets/defenses. Detailed battle reports and rounds analysis. Find your victims, by specifying coordinates.
I've noticed you are trying to do more and more with your games but there only so much you can shove on screen that flash can handle without Unity. You make good stuff, but it does get fairly laggy.
I thought this was an well done little game. The Attacks had enough urgency to them that I liked. I assumed that the more guns you found enabled more people to fire at the target location, its really a matter of just holding down the mouse button and finding enough guns. Searching the ground is good for most materials. I had a 10 man squad for exploration, 10 for searching ground, 5 for lumber jacking and one to sit in town. Split up like this I had little trouble getting resources together.
After wandering around for awhile (until the game over thing appeared), I'm convinced that this games author/s is not only good at making landscapes, but is both kind and merciful for not including "walking on snow" sound effect.
Gotta eat and pay the rent somehow. And as much as some organizations would like the excess population of humanity to eat a bullet to save the beloved seal (and other useful/edible organisms) they have yet to serve as role models by going first.
I have an occasional issue where the blocks shift their positions when re-entering the design screen before doing a mission. Also do comets only show up after using the comet scanner? That is how it appears so far...getting slammed by the sudden appearance of 63 comets is a bit much though. A note informing the player that upgrades to the ships maximum dimensions take effect after the next mission would be helpful.
