I cannot say enough good things about this game. I have played it through three times, starting with a new character each time (instead of keeping the lvl 21 super powers) and it NEVER GOT OLD. It's just that amazing. The music is great, the silly plot line makes me smile, and the old-school graphics are the best. Perfectly optimized so that you don't have to grind if you know what you're doing, but it still provides a good challenge. Something that I've found to be pretty fun to do on the second and third times through is try to beat all the bosses without buying band-aids... Once you've figured out their patterns, it's pretty easy to avoid getting hit, so going up against them without band-aids makes it more sporting. If I could give this game more than five stars, I would.
I don't think it cares how many times you get hit, except for in the defense side missions. At least, not enough to be worth taking the extra time to do any serious dodging.
Congratulations! You just won the I'm On A Boat Badge and 30 points!

Ending 5 achieved ($300,000) – If you already achieved this ending before the badge was added, start a new game, then quit back to the title screen to have it awarded.
YES!!! the name of that badge is just too epic to pass up! tricky, though. 5/5
I just beat lvl 9 on hard. That was EPIC. If you survive long enough, the bad guys stop producing more units. After a long fight, he eventually overpowered my ground army and took all my land structures, including the war factory and the ground and sea control. However, I had killed off his whole Navy, and still had a submarine and a battle cruiser, so I could snipe all his ground units from the safety of the water. He was down to one flak tank, and when I had it down to low enough health for me to kill it in one shot, he kept running away and healing. Because flak tanks move faster than battle cruisers, I had to hide the submarine under a bridge and pin him by chasing him into the bridge. What a game. that was one epic challege. I wish there was a badge for completing each lvl of hard like there is for the other two games in the series... this one would be soooo much harder.
Overall, compared to the second episode (I never finished the first one on hard... I'll get around to that one of these days), this episode was harder to beat on easy but easier to beat on hard. This episode was full of strategically tricky situations (like level 4 and the naval battle level) where you had to figure out the right strategy, but once you did, the tactics weren't THAT much harder to carry out on hard than on easy. However, in the second game, there were some levels were you were actually at a distinct military disadvantage. (In the last level of episode 2, they had way more units and 4 war machines to your 2, in this one, you always had more war machines). You could overpower the enemy conventionally on easy, but on hard, you had to use tricky tactics to get your units into positions to kill there war machines, while conserving every last drop from the oil wells in the territory you picked up effectively. Just my take on the whole harder / easier thing.
For lvl 4 on hard mode, there's a way you can position your ranged units near the first turn point at the bottom so that you can kill all the Spider tanks before they get a shot off on you (a hit from both ranged units is enough to kill a spider tank). Just do that, and send one scorpion tank to kill all the barricades, and use the flak tank, the annihilator, and the scorpion as meat shields to guard the ranged units as you send them through the danger zone. It's tricky, but doable.
The concept is good, and the dialogue is fun, but I can't give the game 5 stars because the mechanics are clunky. The game is painfully slow, and the bombs in the final chase can only be shot while they're in the air, not while they're in the cat's hand. Still, a good game which has some potential if you were to fix it up.
very good game... my one complaint is that it takes too long to go between zones of the house. not too bad, but when you're going between the basement and the bathroom a lot, it's a bit annoying.
Brainisdead: That's what makes the the level interesting. You have to protect the Motar / and or rocket truck all the way around the mountains (it's easier if you kill the barricades before you send them too far out). If you think that's tricky, try playing the level on hard.
Wow, I'm sad, I got the impossible badge, then created another (in game) character, and went and fulfilled the requirements for the impossible badge again.
