I'm not huge on puzzle games in general, but this one is really well done. There's just the right level of frustration to keep it interesting without being impossible. Hint: start by sizing up which pieces can fit next to the unmovable hexes and a lot of levels become much easier.
Wow, the badge is WAY easier on the hardest difficulty. I had to kill like 3 ships after the first boss to break 15k. On any lower difficulty I couldn't get there without beating the second boss, who is pretty tough.
I'm having a lot of trouble on the second boss... For a while hiding about midway up, right against the left side was working, but then he started moving too much and I kept hitting the side without moving! What's the trick to beat this guy? Where's the safe spot?
This game is hard, but worth the effort. I have to say, after a series of largely mediocre Buried Treasure Week games, I was not so big on the whole idea, but this one has changed my mind. This is a good game that absolutely deserves badges and a challenge. 5/5 for now, as I haven't hit any annoying bugs or poor design decisions at all. If I do, it'll probably drop to 4.
Decent game, but the combo system limits its potential. The game might as well end after one life. If the combo was cut in half instead of reset on death, and/or the difficulty reduced slightly after a death, I would rate this a 4/5, but as it stands it gets a 3. A 5 would require more complex gameplay - perhaps different stages, powerups, etc. Still, decent game, certainly one of the highlights of Buried Treasure Week.
This game is horrible. Buggy hit detection when literally the only game mechanic is to avoid being hit earns this one a 1/5. Buried treasure? Not so much.
Great stuff, undefined! I've been a fan of all your games, and this one is the best yet. Any plans for a new game? The changes here are a great start, but some brand new unit/ability types, new skills, new enemies and maps, etc. would be awesome. A refined engine with a few new units and a new set of maps would be enough to have another 4+ rated game, and some substantial new features would be an almost guaranteed 5-worthy game. Keep up the good work!
Exclusive content is lame. Games should not be allowed to have badges or cards if exclusive content is unavailable in the Kongregate version. It's a good game even without the 'extra' content, but a game company that doesn't want to give us Kongregate users full access to their game doesn't deserve the extra hits from a badge/challenge.
This game is really easy once you get the hang of it. Once I got enough levels to get a bunch of gems on start and good gem bombs, it was trivial to get glowing frames on most of the early levels by clicking a bunch of the level tiles to make multiple waves spawn at once (and give tons of bonus points), then using the freebie low quality gems to gem bomb everything. You can pump all your mana into the mana/score rate skill to get more mana and score from each kill. By the time you have to start spending mana on better crystals to kill waves, you can get to 2x as much mana and score from all kills on a lot of maps, especially if you spend a small amount of mana when needed to make more low level gembombs.
This game is only tough if you're stupid with upgrades. You can beat the game never building anything but spearmen if you upgrade right. Of course, you can surrender and fight again repeatedly for money, so any poor strategy can win eventually...
Forgot to mention: don't jump on the boss till he changes colour. After the first hit he starts shooting a laser as well as his stomp wave thing, but the laser only hits you if you jump into it...
I'm mystified by this getting a badge. It's not particularly new, popular or fun. Here's how to beat it:
Lvl 1: You can win by running and jumping constantly 90% of the time. Make sure not to go off the screen, which you can do if you run the whole time... Stop for a second when you get close to the edge. This level seems to glitch more often than the rest, really annoying.
Level 2: I have yet to lose a life running all the way to the right and then standing there till the level ends.
Level 3: stay still till the light comes underneath you, then jump to an unlit spot.
Boss: easy as pie, jump on the boss to hurt him, make sure not to land on him after bouncing off his head or you'll lose a life!
Jeez, still no badges? WTF, Kongregate?
People, don't down the score because of no badges. It's not the developer's fault. Kongregate has been promising badges for this for a while, and has stopped replying to my emails about it :P
