"Sup Dawg, we heard you like achievements, so we put some badges in your challenges so you can achieve while you achieve." God dammit, Xzibit, get off Kong.
A good time suck and an interesting puzzle concept. They start to get absolutely ridiculous towards the end of the Beginner map, and the Adventure map is almost impossible to do and keep your sanity without a guide. Still, a solid 4/5.
Well excuse me for wanting to play, Princess. I try to avoid playing new people, hence the constant challenges in chat. But really, the only way you're going to get better and iron out a strategy is to play someone good enough to make you think.
Just finally got the Hard badge. WAY too many people who obviously hacked on he score board. But whatever, here's some advice for people who want to get it legit: The stage 6 and 7 bosses are insane. The green bombs are random, so even if you're good at bullet hell games (and I am, I spend a good amount of time playing Touhou), expect to take a few hits. Go into them with at least 5 lives or be prepared for painful rape.
I'm playing through this again after beating it on Newgrounds about 6 months ago. Let me tell you, it's as good the second time around as it is the first. If I could give it 6 stars, one extra for the newfound re-playability, I would.
Great game. Take the human Alliance for the Armor boost, and upgrade Marksmanship to 3 or 4 quickly, and buy Scouts. Spam Archers in a single row, covering your other rows with the occasional Swordsman. Then, once the Archers reach mid-field, spam scouts down that line. Easy wins on every map.
Gameplay seems to run smoother, believe it or not, on High quality. On low or medium, I often get loading screens and false disconnect errors. Other than that, it seems to have gotten better over time.
Also, has anyone else died to a dark magic attack while your person has a Death Mask? Made me furious, it's supposed to be a 100% "You can't die to dark magic", no?
Amazing. Incredible. I'm shocked beyond words at how low this is rated. Great sense of humor. Great art direction, while still keeping that 8-bit feel. Top-notch RPG gameplay that never gets old. Great character development. I could go on and on, but that wouldn't stop idiots from rating "LOL 1/5" after they die once.
5/5, would go 6/5 if it were possible.
Anyone who even remotely enjoyed this chapter, go check out chapter 2. It absolutely BLOWS this one away, expect a good 25 hours of amazing gameplay, great writing and humor, and even some free roaming and side questing.
Chapter 1: 4/5
Chapter 2: 6/5
Incredible. Each map does last quite long, especially the last few, but it's damn entertaining throughout. I just secured the (lol Hard) last badge, and even though it was by far the most time consuming badge, it defiantly gave the greatest feeling of accomplishment, the mark of a great game. Only possible improvement would be to the Advanced classes, but they do have some use as it is, even as limited as it is. 5/5.
Extremely frustrating. The throwing system is laughably bugged, making strategic use of your powers the only option for almost every villager. The Knights are also ridiculous, and they frequently cut fingers that aren't even close to them. An easy game made tedious by horrible, horrible mechanics. 2/5
Well designed weapons and engine, but it all gets trashed by the mediocre to horrible AI. Also, games don't need to last that long, it's really frustrating if a close match comes down to a single kill, the AI shoots you off screen, and you're forced to go through a half hour of the same torture again to continue. 3/5.
A lot more strategic than the first. The cannons are a pivotal part of any defense, and so are the tack towers to some degree, but besides that, everything is left up to the player's planning. I also liked the road spikes and monkey glue, they give you some fall back in case a certain wave is giving you problems, but generally hurt you if overused in anything except the last 10 levels. 5/5.
Great game. A bit short of a chapter for my taste, but whatever. Good choice on music. Fantastic art. The damage system was a bit too luck based IMO, especially if you're going to include something like Battle Mode. Also, it could use some degree of customization beyond the equipment system.
For the creator and anyone else, another comparable flash RPG to this one is Mardek RPG series, each of the two having their own charm, and each could take something from the other. 4/5.
I'm surprised this was rated so low. It's a great, long and rewarding retro shooter that combined quite a few arcade classics. The last boss is an epic 10 minute struggle on any difficulty. The upgrades are well placed and useful, and the weapons even follow the three-tree formula. Awesome game, if anything of this genre ever deserved a 5/5, it's this or Luminaria.
