Restarting Firefox worked! 50 fps, though there was some chunking, I think when new parts of the level showed up? Anyway, much easier with higher fps, I even got to the red platform. :) nice work.
I'm getting pretty continuous glitching, and the average FPS is 15-20 generally with 200MB usage. Interesting mechanic though. The drifting you get after the jump ties into the "arbitrary" name. You have to be pretty sensitive with your jumping. Its pretty challenging that way.
We changed how matching works, so it should be easier for everyone to match now, although that means you'll be playing better players. Stay alert, dinos!
Sorry twig1919, in a perfect world, people would donate. But they don't. The guys who made the amazing Dino Run earned less than $3000 in donations from it. They really needed to make about 20 times that in order to pay the bills while they were making it. Game development is expensive, and donations just won't cover it. Visit our blog for more details on our decision with this.
Thanks for the comments guys, keep them coming! Feel free to make suggestions, although make sure you get good at the game before declaring the weapons are unbalanced, haha. :P
All of your games seem to have a great style and feel to them. But this one does seem to be lacking something, as others have said. In terms of feedback loops, it's the medium-size ones that need the most work I think. This definitely has potential, though. Great work. :)
Less than 7000 plays?! What's wrong with you people, this game is awesome! :P I really love the overall feel and style of this game. Great work! My biggest complaints are the hit detection and overall size of the ship compared to the screen. Really cool game, though.
This is exactly what an adventure game should be about. You know exactly what you have to do to interact with the game - it's very clear in fact. The challenge lies in interacting with the world, and in this case choosing the right order of interactions, similar to GROW. You don't have to hunt for pixels to continue. Just cleverly think about how to progress. Very well done. My only crit is that it could use some more depth, though you could argue that's a matter of taste. 4/5
Fantastic style and mood, as stated before. But a poorly designed game IMO. You shouldn't rely on obfuscation of the interface to make the rewards in the game more valuable. Mystery is important, but not in a way that completely stops you from playing the game. Samorost was much better because it focused more on the mystery of the interactions of the objects in the game world, instead of the mystery of the interactions between player and game.
This game is awesome. It really tries to find that line between frustrating and fun. A simple, nicely polished proof of concept for your idea. Congrats :)
It's fun for a little bit, but the game doesn't progress to a point where it's truly compelling. How your different gameplay mechanics interact might need to be refined. Be careful adding new features - I'm not sure that you actually need more. You might just need to make the ones you have already work together better.
I think the speed is really a matter of preference. Maybe the dog could be just a little bit faster, but really it's supposed to be a relaxing game, isn't it? I wouldn't make it too much faster. And yeah, good use of music. A couple more minutes of diff music would be a good addition, since the music is really important in this game. Great concept.
