黑暗通道、隱藏機關、轉角處的惡龍——地牢遊戲將密閉空間化成刺激又充滿獎勵的舞台。每扇鎖門可能藏著秘密房間或稀有寶藏，陷阱逼你步步小心。無論第一身格子遊覽還是快節奏自上而下橫衝直撞，精髓都是：探索、戰鬥、生存。
這類型來自七十年代桌上角色扮演《龍與地下城》。早期經典如《Rogue》、《Wizardry》帶領地牢冒險登上鍵盤。其後《Diablo》、《Skyrim》、《Hades》等作品證明玩法不斷進化，百玩不厭。
