Its a nice game that I think the devs could have put more effort into giving each diety a more interesting/unique playstyle (unique upgrade trees, different graphical effects on affected countries and such) Would also be nice to see wars break out as your followers go nuts ( especially with an orc cult)
The biggest annoyance is when your mage attempts melee attacks when you have plenty of mana. Also the lack of combat skill xp after battles really slows down gameplay. Beyond those 2 gripes, You have definitely sorted out the lag/slowdown issues your previous games had, and it plays very smoothly for me.
Yes, I've noticed that and dislike that myself. With the next update though, the real fun will begin. You'll be able to decorate your mine and place furniture, carpets, tables, doors, living rooms, bed rooms.. etc..etc... everything you can imagine (submissions/suggestions most welcome) I hope that will fix this issue - at least a little ^^
I think the developers need to put a little more effort into making the game a more unique experience then repackaging what is basically the same car with a new coat of paint. A coat of paint like Senatry tend to work due to peoples innate interest in history, that's their niche/selling point. This coat of paint tells me nothing about why I am doing anything, I have no clue what the conflicts of interests are that created the 3 factions (why is it always 3?), I have no info on the overall plot, I don't even know what the skills do. And being an average gamer with a short attention span I won't go to some site to read the back story, I will judge the game purely on what you present to me. Make an effort to get me to want to play.
In the end I think the mana regen pet is the most worthwhile. Skill points in the gold skill replace the loot pet (sorta, but its not hard to collect loot anyways) so whatever you do nab is worth more anyways, gravity trap can bring them down, but 1 well placed arrow tower usually takes care of all fliers. But nothing regens mana, from softening an enemy to "OH SH*T!" moments, nothing beats traps.
I liked it, I must say that not once did I ever look at the power bar or the level timer or ever have an issue with my capturing gun fizzling out, the most worth while up grade was the field of vision. I'm curious what happens if you let the mentals get to close, never gave them the opportunity to get close enough.
Having upper tier skills as a cash item will get you a lot of flak as it violates the boundaries of greed vs equal opportunity char development. People like knowing they can reach the top, even though they have to work a little harder then someone else, so long as the opportunity is there. Its the basic rules of life, anyone can be THE KING if they are willing to earn it. That said, cash only Adventures/side quests are an acceptable alternative so long as you make them interesting.
We would definitely like to implement more opportunities for gem-driven content in the near-future. These are some good suggestions, we'll keep them in mind.
My biggest issue with this and the previous one is it's too friggin random and provides no useful information about anything. I can have 25 farms + hero, 100 pop and everyone is still starving to death from food shortages. What's the deal here? There doesn't appear to be any kind of baseline of stability to make economic decisions off of.
The AI Opponent does not need unlimited specials when players have to operate on a shoe string budget. It doesn't make the game a challenge, it just makes it suck more later on.
Slurp!
