TDL: Your kill score will e kept, but the details of the kills wont. So you will be able to level up, but not view all the statistics for all time on disputedgalaxy.com
Lobster, you will ly lose all your work if you are careless
froob, there was a glitch that allowed people to get loads of money, but hopefully it should be removed in the new version. There have been a couple of cheat attempts and Im sure there will be more, but the beauty of accounts means I can at least delete them
Acid, maybe some money could come back from engines, but im not sure, it will mean more expensive lives aswell. Energy cells requiring you to unlock is important, laser beams are debatably overpowered already, if you could keep charging while firing you would be unstoppable
Zakini: The info is loaded, because that means it will be much easier for meto update te info
Lobster: Having lives doesnt penalise peope for playing? it penlises people for losing. Why would you want a game with no challenge? If you didnt want to keep your ship, then you souldnt have bought an expensive engine, everythng else is taken ito account i the trade n price, engines are for people who want to keep their ship
Tathar I wasnt aware that you coud make a multiplayer flash game without a centralised server? Please enlighten me how you cn make a 2p flash game?
matti, if you are in a multiplayer sector and nobody is in there then you will just get AI ships. I suggest aking in chat if anyone is playing multiplayer and find out where they are.
Thanks for all comments people, there are lots of things people are asking for some which I have answered several times before and some new. I will do an FAQs soon.
BTW, if the game is crashing, go to 'downloads' on my site and get the standalone version for no more crashes!
OK, I havent made it save every sector, because otherwise people could just close the game whenever it got tough
Thunderbolt weapons are supposed to get you and your allies, thats the downside to them, otherwise they would be too good
Ultr vortex bomb is not over powered, you only get to fire it once and you earn less money with it than it cost to buy, plus it increases the bounty on a ship holding one by a few thousand
The chosen one, it just sounds like you graphics card/computer isnt quite fast enough for the game, you can hardly blame me for that, turn down the graphics settings.
Lag in multiplayer is always going to be there, because people connect with slower connections which slow everyone else down aswell, again you cant blame me for that. I already pay $180 a month for the server for no real profit, if you want a really fast gaming server, then send me $20 a month.
I thought chat was working, but it seems not again. Its improved anyway
Ive never played escape velocity, but its sounds like one of the many game people have accused me off ripping off for my starfighter games!
The game that inspired this, was a game on the amiga called Transplant, great game, but mines better :)
Its not a very original style of game, but then its not as common in flash games as zombie blasting or defence games, or mouse avoidance games
The EMP is annoying, but people dont often die after theyve been EMPed because they are at least still moving
Hiddeknight: Thanks for sticking up for me, its always disheartening when you spend 10 months on a game, and then people who have only played it for 30 secs tell you that you are rubbish because they can figure it out without reading the instructions. Nice to have people on my side :)
stealthsilent: Any unusual characters in your password? what is your username in the game, i'll have a look later
waifer: The ships have an "artificial friction drive", which makes ships easier to control. If the ships didnt have this it would be very hard to control them. It would be like controlling the ship in the original asteroids
Jayhawk: You lose all your weapons when you switch ship, because not all ships can fit the same weapons. You get money for the weapons included in the trade in price of your ship. There are descriptions of the weapons on the site, click the more button in how to play
Muzzz: Press p when a course is plotted to activate autopilot
AcidFlux: Autopilot goes up to your top speed, you can also use the speed booster, teleport discs or engine overdrives while autopilot is in use
ChrisFontenot: You dont get money back for engines, but on the plus side they dont make your lives more expensive. Engines are for people who are happy with their ship and want to stick with iut for a while
Re mute feature: Might add this at some point
Re it not being the the same place when you cross a boundary: This is intentional, the grid is only supposed to represent a rough guide, but as everyone keeps whining about it i might change it
Re it being boring: Its as boring as you make it, if you want to just fly around in friendly space then thats fine, you have that freedom in this game. But if you want some action, the do some missions and head for the centre of the galaxy, maybe even venture into enemy space, or battle someone in multiplayer. Feeling really brave, try attacking an enemy station.
Re chat not working: This seems to be simply that my chat server code cant handle so many people, I might put in a few backup chat ports, for it to try when it fails, other than that dont know what to do. Multiplayer does still work though
Re browser crashing: This is because the new flash player is not particularly stable. It is not my code, as it crashes randomly and doesnt on a standalone version. If my code was doing it then you would get a message about it running slowly asking you if you wanted to abort the script. I may put a standalone version available for download soon
