Sorry for this double post, forgot to finish before posting and I don't know of any way to edit comments. Now then, I think that the basic idea of the game, systematically clearing a town partially overrun by zombies (love the use of "zed" slang, btw), essentially responding to reports of zombie activity, is great. I'd encourage you to work and refine this.
The fact that you can ONLY EVER see where the flashlight is shining gets really annoying and seems more than a bit excessive. Perhaps have this only apply to certain areas. The featureless rooms make navigation annoying and make the game feel bland and flavorless.
In order to kill a void eater and get credit for it, you have to wait for it to start charging its density beam and rush up and slice it before you get sucked into the beam and die. Try it a few times in practice to get the hang of it (with greens so it won't use its gravity field forever) before trying for real.
