so since last patch, my units will not level up. been at 5m/600k exp on all my 4 units. plus a item in my inventory is stuck, its description and stats are blank.

About the "blank" item, when was that created? That bug should have been fixed a couple days ago, maybe it was an old item? or was it created recently? Anyway, to get rid of it, select something else, then select it and sell it as a single item.
all these new equips are nice(vest of the stars) but the requirements are tough to fill when you over level 200 and your stats are in other places. Can you focus on the re-spec aspect of skill points before you release new items/skills?
The plan is to introduce further on the rebirth system, that will restart the characters from lvl1 with higher base stats, and i probably won't put respecs because of that.
I will probably work it on the next few days, i still have the next-tier of items to release which are almost ready, then i'll work on that and maybe finally the castle, the fact that your chars are already over lvl200 is not ideal(other than scary :D ), considering i will set a lvl cap, and the required level for the "rebirth" will probably be pretty lower, at least for the first rebirth.
I'm happy about the fact that you already enjoying the game and playing it so much, but being just a test version, there is seriously a lot more stuff to come, and that might interfere pretty hard with the present gameplay :\
next bug for you to fix: when your attack is less than bosses defense, it errors out bosses hp bar, either stalling it or healing it. Also when you lose to a boss, the boss disappears, makes it so you lose a chance to fight that boss again, which is not normal.
so why do the coins per second on older equips disappear when i buy a new equip? would be nice to have a stat area so we can see how the equips affect our coins/sec and a counter to see when the next boss will show up.
I have updated the game with a new version to fix this issue just now.
I will look at a stat area, but the first time you buy an item, it's the coins/sec * amount owned.
You will see a boss once you reach 5,10,25 and 50 owned of an item.
going to have to quit your game, only having 5 units that may or may not be able to win, cause you introduce hard scenarios that would require me to recruit older unit make it no fun. Let us at least be able to keep one of each type of unit. also would be nice to know all the units abilities, seems as they level up they still have the lower level abilities but they are now hidden which makes strategy useless cause i can not see what they have.
some other bugs, on level 6 the background makes the background permanent and ruins the display, and when the wolf uses haste on itself, it instantly loses it cause it's turn is over. Also, please create a better help screen, i have no idea what half the things do.
maybe you could speed up the game by having the boss make its attack while i'm still near him instead of having to wait till i run all the way back. or just reduce the space between the two by a lot.
needs a pause, a mute, and ability to set attack priority. when the cubes are going for the exit and that right most turret ignores them, ya that is bad.
