Sorry Gamebrew! Maybe I should tell people when I'm going to use their games for challenges... but that would ruin the surprise! (Seriously though, I love this game, and sometimes I wait until Thursday to decide what the challenge is going to be, but this was the clear choice as soon as it was uploaded.)
Hey guys, it seems that I overestimated the difficulty of the newest achievement. I blame both my own sucking (couldn't get under 8500) and the high scores (only 5 people of all time had gotten under 7000). Based on both feedback I've received and the number of completions so far (too many for my liking!), I've changed the badge to merely "hard." Anyone who completed the badge while it was impossible will retain all 60 points, though.
Congrats, Uberschwein. Your ability to load up new games and rate "1" in less time than it takes to play them is truly a valuable service to the community.
Here's a tip for those complaining that the badge takes too long to earn: The timer is based on your frame rate, and the game slows down when you fire. To make level 12 go by faster, just bounce around the walls without firing. Shooting seems to slow the game down, and thus, slow the timer down.
If level 3 bugs out, you might need to reset and start back at level 3. It usually works, but sometimes it gets stuck. I promise the badge is possible to get!
I just want to note that this game is completely legitimate, so please don't downvote it on those grounds. Also, please don't downvote it because it was uploaded after the sequel. That's just dumb. Rate the game for what it is. Thanks guys! (As for my personal opinion, this game is great.)
This game was re-uploaded at my request with a fix that makes the badge more reliable to earn. The fact that it got bumped to the top of the latest games is a glitch on our side. Please do not penalize this game through your rating just because it was re-uploaded. Thanks!
Just wanted to say that this badge was MEANT to be easy, on the lower end of "medium." "Easy" badges, however, are reserved for tasks that can be easily completed by anyone with little or no practice. You guys are talking about specific gun combos that make the badge easy, clearly demonstrating that you've either played the game before or you bothered to research it; neither of these should be required for a truly "easy" badge. Also keep in mind that there are 4 difficulty levels, and "medium" is the second-easiest. This may be one of the easier "medium" badges, but it would have undoubtedly been the most difficult "easy" badge if it had been labeled as such.
This game is great. It's one of the top-rated games of all time on Newgrounds, and I have no idea why it only has 3 stars here. I'll never understand you people!
yankeedoodle, how is this a "waste of a badge"? You know the badges are just digital, right? We don't have to actually print them out or anything. We also don't have a limit on how many we can make. The biggest time factors in badges are balancing, testing, and dealing with issues that arise afterward. This game is so bug/exploit-free, and the API implementation is so clean that a badge took about 10 minutes to implement. Perhaps you value my time even more highly than I do.
Okay everyone. I've been working on glitches and exploits on this badge for several days now. Here's the latest update: It was changed to a 125 multiplier to avoid a high score glitch involving Octal numbers. However, it seems that you automatically get a 200 multiplier by loading up the Deathmatch mode. It was therefore changed to "reach level 42." The name of the badge was also changed to a cheesy Douglas Adams reference. I SWEAR TO GOD IF THIS HAS ANY MORE PROBLEMS...
Sorry everyone, but the badge didn't seem to work for anyone and it was removed. We'll try to get it working again. The penguin badge did not "replace" this badge; they were both just launched around the same time, and the Mezzo badge seemed to work fine.
I think you guys are being a little ridiculous. The reason I chose a demo for a badge is because just the demo on its own is more fun, more polished, and, hell, *longer* than most full games on the site. Don't like that it's used to sell a full game? Then just pretend that this is a full game with 30 levels! Sheesh. It's not like you're required to buy the game to get the badge.
sonicbw, I'll admit to being annoyed by most of the stuff you upload, and this is no exception. But at least this is a game, and at least you're showing progress with learning Flash. I'm not quite sure any of your work is really ready for the public yet, but I do encourage you to keep learning.
