The units I have attempted to play are well balanced and fun.
However, I have tried repeatedly to play with friends, and been tossed into random games where I know no one. Is this a bug? Is it a feature disabled by the Kongregate server?
The Kongregate chat server seems to increase lag/sync issues. Twice I have been dropped when someone in the Kong chat has been typing. Is Kongregate willing to rely on the in-game chat alone in order to reduce lag and improve gameplay while hosting the game?
Other than that, 5/5.
A+ for effort, but ... I'm a general. I've never used tactics like this. The tactics need to vary with the landscape. Have you seen Santa appear yet? Have you updated for Santa's arrival? :D
It's an intereting concept to add a timer, but it does seem luck. No save, no pause, less replayability. Different speeds for different abilities might be an improvement, too.
Sure, when Sears ONLY sell Gameboys in the little boys' department, it's just business. When I am supposed to assume that all those commandments in the Bible given to males apply to me, a female, it's not sexist. Using the word 'she' in the instructions is not neccessarily sexist, atleast not until english has a gender neutral word for a human. Marketing a cooking game that isn't much of a game to little girls IS sexist. See Luigi's Soup Kitchen for an example of that, little boys!
The graphics are better than the earliest "video games on watches" from the 80s. The concept, however, is identical. The game stinks. Zero replayability. No fun. "Come visit our site!" Thanks, but no.
Almost appropriate for six year olds of either gender. It concerns me that this is being marketed specifically towards females, when males certainly need to learn how to cook.
I have created a level 1 wizard. The wizard now has 2 mana, due to adventuring. Do I need to search for mana, as if it is an item? Get lucky and have some randomly spawn? Rest and recuperate? What? There is nothing in the help section to provide any sort of clue as to how my wizard can cast more spells.
I have just started the game. I am doing what is reccomended, reading the help sections. There is no back button to navigate. I can close the help window, but then I need to open it up again to navigate through sub-menus that I can not open once I've opened ONE sub-menu. It's awkward. I think I'll try this game when the instructions function a little better.
It's extrememly slow much of the time. I'm NOT getting the spare change from my kills and achievements, so I can't upgrade, so why should I actually keep playing?
And speaking of rifle skills, how about tweaking the skilled soldiers' rifle skills for those of us who have earned the medals that do so? I, as a Colonel, should not be able to deploy a gunner with starting skills of 8. :(
The balance is a bit off since the addition of the new units. A german motorcycle is a bit off balance on the first wave, for example, particularly on a field with a lot of trees. The cycle units also are cutting my average game time waaaay down, due to early breakthrus that wouldn't occur after my squad has decent rifle skills.
Dear Santa:
I have been almost, sort of, in a way, good this year.
I'd like a few things for Christmas.
1) More challenges for Kongai cards that do not discriminate against those of us with poor eye-hand co-ordination.
2) Zina, Amaya, and Oshimaru.
3) A "Concede the match" button that won't make the winner wait 60 seconds.
4) Atleast one new server for Congregate.
Suggestions, and NO, I will NOT join yet another forum on some other site to submit these.
1) A mute, and subtitles so those of us who play around other people in real life do not have to subject others to the noise.
2) Information on how long until the next wave, what the wave contains, etc. Supposedly this some of this is available by deploying a scout, but I have yet to see ANY info gained by deploying a scout.
3) Better crate drops - perhaps limiting them to the bottom half of the screen? Fewer garbage drops?
4) Some sort of improvement to the game balance. I invest in bunkers, and my squad doesn't fire ... I put them spread out in trenches, and an airstrike wipes them out just as atleast one or two have attained decent ranks. I hire a signal op, and enemy arty or bombs become frequent, with little warning since I HAVE to mute the game to play (or invest in headphones, which I don't have with me currently). Simply put, if the designers are relying on SOUND to inform the player of impending doom, then it isn't working, and folks DON'T LIKE LOSING.
How about some more achievements? Taking out the bandits' den is definitely worth a badge, as is continuing the game from that point forward, or even finishing the game's different endings!
