Difficulty is such a subjective thing... I designed this game to have the level of challenge that I'd appreciate in a game, but understandably people less used to platformers might struggle more and end up frustrated. But balancing difficulty is a challenge in itself; if I make it too easy, then people will complain about that, but if I make it too hard, then different people complain. With this, I tried to make it so that the game could be finished in some way without doing the difficult bits, but if you want 100%, then more skill is involved...
Please make sure you're playing v1.23, people; refresh if the version number on the title screen is different. The newest version of Flash Player may help with some of the more obscure problems (though I'm not sure). I just tested the boss thing myself and it seems to work alright for me, so I'm not sure what that could be... The invincibility thing was part of the buggy update that I've since fixed.
Yet another new version, v1.23: I removed the Shift+Delete suicide, but now if you press the HOME key on your keyboard, you should warp back to Clarence's room. Hopefully THIS will fix that lingering problem! I might remove this functionality in a day or two; it's only meant as a fix, not a feature.
I don't see why Macs would handle key presses any differently, but I don't know anything about them... Have you tried all of the delete keys on the keyboard? Are you sure the game has focus when trying? Is Num Lock on? Or off? I'm not really sure what else I can suggest, other than trying again from the start... But at least the bug won't happen again; it only appears when loading buggy save files, it seems.
Hmm, I deliberately avoided including a 'suicide button' in the original release, but I see that this is a problem that can't really be solved any other way, so... now you can die if you hold SHIFT and press DELETE. Hopefully this'll help you few people who are stuck with dodgy saves due to the buggy version I uploaded! Make sure the version is v1.22, though.
I've uploaded a new version; it will be labelled v1.20. I think it fixes the problems I'd stupidly introduced, but I'll test it for a while and see if they still occur. I'm so sorry about this; I wouldn't have thought that such a 'trivial' addition would cause problems like this!
Oh no! I thought I'd tested the update, and it seemed to work fine, but it seems that there are rather embarrassing problems with it, clearly... I'll try and fix them as soon as I possibly can!
I usually only reply to the negative minority because I can't really think of what to say to all the positive comments other than a thousand thankyous. And usually the things I reply to aren't merely 'I don't like it' comments, but accusations or misunderstandings which I feel I want to try to clear up, if possible.
The front door of the house doesn't use a normal key, and the number of keys that you had in a level should be retained if you return to that level via a pink door. Each level has its own supply of keys, though, so it seems as if you go back to 0 keys whenever you start a new level...
Should I change the location of the trousers? A lot of people seem to have difficulty finding them, and I suppose it is a bit much to expect people to remember that locked door in his bedroom...
I've uploaded a new version which changes the penalty for having the hamburger, so hopefully it should be possible to get the best ending now even if you did get it!
I must say I'm sort of surprised by people calling this game 'too long'; I worry about the length of the games that I make and wondered whether this one would be too short, actually. You see, I prefer and am used to console games; I barely ever play Flash games (despite using Flash to make my own). As such, I want games to last several hours at least, not a few minutes. I'd want them to entertain me for days, not to finish them perfectly in a lunch break...
Seems someone doesn't understand the difference between paying homage to a certain style and actually stealing resources.
I made the graphics, sounds, music, and everything else myself, and it took a lot of effort too. I wouldn't and couldn't use resources that were not my own.
