Re: Pandora's Box loot--
It is actually a bug. Sometimes you get appropriate loot, sometimes you don't. But I'm not that inclined to fix it.. I don't mind, since I already badly messed up the balance of the game with the Legendary Lure. The Box exists for the challenge, not the loot.
Not well documented: You can hold down the control key while clicking on item icons in the shop to quickly sell them. You can also double-click on the icon (for an item you own) to equip them to the current character, without leaving the shop.
The clean slate doesn't refund any stat points gained from potions. As the wording on the item says, it resets you to the base number of stat points for your level.
Glancing Hits annoy people, so they stick out more in their memory than the times they succeed. There's nothing wrong with the actual calculations, if you did an experiment and wrote down your results over an appreciable period you'd see that. I had the same complaints on Monsters' Den until I added an interface element that showed the actual accuracy roll on-screen.
Enemies never get a glancing hit-- they miss outright. The whole glancing hit system for players is there to provide some consolation damage when they fail their attacks. If you're missing too much, raise your Attack stat or try to lower the enemy Defense.
The wording on the lure is correct: you would never say "do battle with" if you meant "fight alongside".. but you'd probably need to be a native English speaker to realize that. I'll try to be more careful with ambiguities like that in future.
Wrong text box!
