Not making fun of facebook -- its primarily a facebook game. And that is its flaw. Many facebook games have the limited moves per day -- the goal is to have you come back. This game is advertising and a money grab. That said, the stupid energy points feature does get less (but still is) obnoxious at higher levels when you can usually level up before your energy runs out. And the energy feature does serve to stop people from redoing lower levels to falsely pad exp points and get cash too easily. How 'bout locking levels once you complete them instead and giving unlimited energy for the non-facebook (i.e. Kongregate) version of the game? Until then, I hope people keep giving 1/5 ratings.
Energy system is supremely annoying. Can only play for a few minutes before you are required to pay to continue. Is this what flash games are coming to? Teasers designed to fleece of us cash? Flash gaming people play them, not because they are the highest quality, but because they can be cleverly designed and are free. This is neither. Booo! 0/5
Annoyed is now really annoyed. Didn't get the badge. Apparently, you have to click save at the end - if you goto the home page it doesn't register. Grrrrrrrr. An hour down the toilet. Downgraded to 2/5.
I usually enjoy these point and clicks (yay, zeebarf), but this one was, well, annoying. Things that didn't work that should have, lots of "AHA! Got you, you have to go back to the basement again!" moments. Story was good, graphics fine, but overall not my favorite. 3/5
I didn't find it too easy at all, the last wave was really tough if you hadn't saved up money from earlier rounds. Key seems to be to go into that last wave loaded for bear, then choosing the right weapons for the right baddies. If you don't waste money on early rounds overbuying health and ammo (spending where you don't get full value just to top up) it is easy. Otherwise almost undoable.
Needs auto fire, more upgrades on ship, and a nice map so you can see where you are. Hey, wait . . . that is Bubble Tank 2! Its a better game, they did a great job on improving it.
For this one, best to spiral around the starting bubble where the enemies are weakest while you build your ship. When you max out (with the big red cannon shots), just pick a direction and keep going till you get to the boss.
Zeebarf is one creative, probably drug addled, guy. I much prefer the small favor world and characters to reemus (the programmers other point and click games), and Another Small Favor is probably the best of the best. Rich world, interesting play, just top notch creative point and click. Got stuck a couple of places, but was able to figure it out without too much trouble -- perfect for a point and click. 5/5
Have to agree with jadedempath re: luck. It is just repetition over and over to get the gold badges. Same shot 30 times finally gets the result. Multiply times 50 levels and you get 1500 shots of boredom to get the hard badge. That said, the concept, graphics and fun factor of repeatedly killing the royal family with a rock save the game for me overall and make it a solid 3 or 4 out of 5.
I got the hard badge and set a high score by abandoning the middle and bottom of the screen, focusing on the top corners, and making REALLY strong web, going from branch to branch on the main web strings, then interconnecting them like crazy. The moths and ladybugs are nice to just let sit in the web as powerups, but you HAVE to get the queen bee and others pretty quickly or you are doomed.
The wall jump is a bit touchy, and Meat Boy slides when he lands, making this a tough game. Music is great, and the challenging levels keeps you playing for longer than some games. Controls not good enough for a 5 rating though.
Absolutely beautiful artwork, and the intro and ending animations are far more than one usually sees with a flash game. People often complain that the point and click games are too quick or too easy -- this is neither. The story is good, the gameplay is too, and it is just beautiful. 5/5.
Again beautiful art and a fun story. I don't care for toooo difficult on these point and clicks, just ask for creativity and interest - this had both. Well done. 4.5/5.
Best advice for this game is to change your options to allow for mouse control, then switch on auto fire. From there, just use restraint and build your ship by repeating levels before advancing. Best technique at higher level bosses is combination of time stopping upgrade and the dark energy charge feature you can buy from the legendary store. With those two, you can defeat anything. Though it wasn't too tough or original, I really enjoyed the game's combination of achievement badges and upgradeability of ships. It got me to buy in, and success in the levels using the advice I just gave reinforced my enjoyment, even if the game is weighted toward the player I thought it perfect. 5/5
Forgot to mention only complaint - an easy way to quit and restart for when you mess up the order of tasks or otherwise need a redo to get badges. Had to reload whole game 3 times and counting . . .
Mission failed badge should be a hard. Took me forever to figure out how to do it. Easy to get stuck, but not easy to phail completely. As usual from Zeebarf, a beautiful game, and this one I like better than the Remus ones. Tough, but not too tough, and really interesting art and feel. Good walkthroughs available on the Kongregate forums and at Newgrounds if you get stuck.
Seems a good strategy here is to keep your ship between the alien mother ship and your own base, playing defense and being conservative, not attacking the mother ship too much until you've upgraded a ton. Being patient and building up your upgrades is the way to go.
I had given up on this game because of some flaws in Bubble Tanks 1 that were too frustrating. This is a huge improvement and very playable. The map function, upgradeable ships, some bugs gone, etc. really make a huge difference. Keys = go in a spiral so you can upgrade your ship before you get too far out where the bubbles are hard, once you get the final boss, pick a direction and just charge outward, not spiraling anymore, to get all the mini bosses - they'll pop up randomly as you go far out.
Some negative comments here, but I really enjoyed this game. Laptop controls were fine for me, just used number pad for weapons, tab to shift between targets and arrow keys to move. All seemed natural after a bit of practice. The gameplay was fun. Nothing earth shattering, but simple enough to be engaging without being too complicated for a flash game. Key for me was finding the respawning baddies and beating them to level up and get some nice weapons/armor drops. Best combo I found (after trying a couple) was the guardian/warder combo - get the guardian passive abilities and focus on the warder bow skills. Best attack is bow and arrow combined with the awesome "natures grasp spell" that slows down the baddies. You just run away and fire arrows when you have distance, repeat when they get close. Was able to win game that way no problem.
Playing medium mode, used nuke combos for early levels, added some tasers to slow down/bunch guys for better nuke effect, then railguns. Up over level 550 now and still going, but needed a black hole combo at the end of the track at level 515 to stay alive, so I guess that is my real level score. Key for nuke combos = you can do rows of cannons with rows of rockets behind between the cannons. That way gives you a savings by using the same cannon to combo two different rockets. Much more efficient that way. The key on railguns is placement at the end of long rows - when they shoot they pierce and can do damage to a whole row of creeps. If you have tazers along that row to slow the creeps, it is golden.
