OK, now ready for a final review. 5/5 - I can't wait for the next version. Badges needed!
The good: love the character classes; always a challenge - never too hard; incredible depth and feel for flash; battle controls are intuitive - love the ability to move, switch attack and potions with one hand and fight with other; nice balance of creature difficulty with hero level at each story point. Great programming job with remarkeably few glitches considering complexity.
Possible improvements: too easy to accidentally sell from inventory - how about labels like drop?; why need inventory room to pick up gold?; if there are only 10 inventory slots, just show ten boxes - people get confused on orb and emrald quests; better description of attack effects needed - some attacks aren't worth wasting a skill point; better attribute description needed - i.e. what does dexterity do; cruel to have final, secret task result in key that "must unluck something", but doesn't. Wasted hours!
Figured it out. You can get "The Eternal Key", but need the Milden Agreement before you get into the dungeon. Weird requirement for order of action, but game is so tremendous, I'll forgive! Sad its over now . . . All that is left is getting the superkiller armor for 8000 gp
At end of game, I found a hidden dungeon in Tatopolis. The guy who says he's hungry likes Turkey legs . . . Anyone know what happens after you kill the first 3 guys in the dungeon? Is that it? It feels like I'm missing something . . .
For challenge 5, just work around the edges, keeping your distance and outrunning the bad guys. It'll take a few times, but stay at the edges and you'll get it soon enough.
That said, still too tough because controls aren't too great. AI issues less important if bot control was better. How about 1 click on a bot puts into "close" follow mode, 2nd click puts into "range" mode, 3rd click puts into "evade" mode. Also, rather than click and drag, how about click to highlight bot, then click at a spot where the bot will go. Even better how about direct control of bot using arrow keys?
For challenge 4/dragon, key is that the dragon won't shoot at things too close to it. If you lock your shield onto the dragon, the dragon will destroy your sword. Let the shield wander and keep your sword behind it. If you get close to a wall, run like heck.
Better than Sprout - good artwork, nice creative touches. I think just the right difficulty - no temptation to check a walkthrough but a couple of head scratching minutes. Fun and cute.
5/5 - I love the artistic effort that went into this. A beautiful game that more than makes up in creativity what it lacks in gameplay. I'd love to see more of this game specifically, and this type of creativity generally.
Good game, nice spend of time. Not sure the badge is only worth a medium, though -- some of those puzzles were really tough. Lvl 9 for one is a killer.
The more I play this, the more I like it. Gameplay is quite good once you get the hang of it. With a few modifications, this could be great. Just upped my rating to 5/5 after getting addicted despite some needed fixes.
A couple of other suggestion besides music and detailed instructions - speed up the enemy's turn and have customizeable decks. This game has 5/5 potential.
