@dirtymosha Station disappears in case you're flying to the station and a NPC mines out an asteroid (so it destroys the asteroid). I've reported that once, no effect so far. A possible workaround is go to the warp gate, preferrably while not targetting it, turn autowarp on, select the gate (warp triggers), then select the back gate as soon as you pop in the new system (warp back triggers). This will repopulate the source system with station and add back asteroids.
@squatch Getting loot from officers is a chance to happen, roughly equals to (1+system#)/total_systems, aka percentage completed. I'm now doing repeated runs vs #17 out of 50, and I'm getting loot about once per 3 officers spawned. (I have pirates respawn on, and I've killed Astrox Commander, now officers instantly respawn if killed.)
Ninth, I'd like to see the engine system completely overhauled, although it's pretty difficult to do for a single person and with a somewhat working system in place. How come a ship can turn backwards in a second if flying at 100 speed and laden with 4 Safelox's and 5K Refined Metal, and even not losing speed? A proposition of such a system will be too big for comments spanning several dozen of them, but the dev doesn't (temporarily, maybe) read his inbox, thus I'm worried that the proposition might just fall into the void. In short, turn engine system into power/weight, also acceleration should be dependant on power, turning speed too, and there should be ability to sacrifice turnspeed for maxspeed and vice versa.
Seventh, job benefits for kills are way higher than for other type of jobs, including mine rare asteroids, but the latter scale from the station level, so you can deliver 1000 stuff for twice the reward to station #20 than to say #9. Also, it's stupid to get deliver jobs for locally sold commodity, like "deliver XXX projectile ammo" that's sold everywhere. Eighth, it's too dam weird to receive a top/highlevel weapon/system from a #0 officer, and a rare light armor from #40+ centurion officer or hideout - officers and hideouts should drop systems more relevant to their level.
Fifth, if you have drones, you pretty much must get a targetting system or they won't ever deal damage. An alternate way is using Support Drones instead of a shield booster and stuff more weapons on your ship, but this runs out of steam earlier than you'd want. So far drones are responsible for about 50% of total damage done by my ship, that has 2 battle cannons, 1 epic heavy cannon, 1 battle laser and 1 epic dual launcher (nothing better than this dropped so far). Also, drones don't miss, while your weapons do every now and then. Sixth, mining asteroids is only crucial early on, while you don't have enough firepower to repeatedly crush pirate ships. Setting high asteroids mainly messes up battle screen with unwanted targets.
Okay, time for some analytics. First, engines are tremendously unbalanced, with Pacer in fact being the best endgame engine, Artifact Pacer even more so. The reason is fuel usage, and the ability to save a static slot for something better than a fuel cell. Second, rare shield boosters apparently give less for less, because of "Rate" parameter getting lowered for rarity, so the stock Heavy Booster is the best for survival. Third, lasers have too much miss rate compared to flak cannons, something about 50% at native locking distance (67 in my case), and keep missing even at 20. Fourth, while LR-Sniper ammo is the most expensive, it's not worth using once you have 40 lock range, primarily because it can just fly through the target not dealing damage. Tested on the Hideout with base lock range of 25, discovered about 30% miss rate from 60 distance.
@hayashidarkstar Yes, you can fly full speed with zero fuel, this way your energy core is what's powering the engine, aka your energy gets depleted when you run out of fuel. But, if you don't have fuel left, your afterburners won't work. Also if you set energy replenish to lowest (0.25) you also risk running out of energy if flying without fuel. (Although it's not logical to have a jet propulsion engine propel a ship without using fuel)
@wilcoxon You can view job status if you zoom out to galaxy level, expand the target system and click on the station icon there. But yes, job expiry notification (as well as "impending expiry" notification) will be good to receive.
@psychotikfrog: There is a counter, go top left ("Player") - Statistics - (model) Insignia, this is the counter that's queried against jobs. Also, it's reduced when you report a completed job, so don't be surprised if the insignia sum won't be equal pirates killed.
@kang2104 Hideouts spawn in normal systems, usually close to the end of line. You can meet zero hideouts on your way to Oasis's key, though, especially if your galaxy has few systems.
A MAJOR BUG: Whenever a NPC destroys an asteroid (they mine em sometimes), your current target gets destroyed too. Most funny if the target is a warp gate or a station, especially if you're pursued by pirates.
When you've got yourself a $500k, go take two energy cores and travel to Oasis from wherever you are, get the biggest ship there is and either go mining or go pirate hunting. If you've got $3M, go but tactical command ship and blast'em. Also note that in the last build drones are capped at 25 regardless of drone mods, so don't waste money on these while you have a 25-drone ship.
How can a laser not hit a stationary target, if the source isn't moving as well? Relative speed of source vs target should be included in to-hit calculations, not just distance.
lasers lose power over distance, so even though you can target something far out, your laser may not reach with anything more damaging than a flashlight
I'd really like the way to increase turning speed, probably at the expense of maximum speed, and vice versa. It might require an overhaul in propulsion calculations, though.
Went Customize, wrecked a couple pirates and officers, went astral-travelling to planet #39. Was really surprized to see an undefined object that obliterated me in a second. It was fun while it lasted, and it was totally worth 15-minute idle flight. Also, is it normal to not see any asteroids barring adamyte and gradeon within first 6 planets?
I've played this back in 1997 on www02.so-net.ne.jp/~kajitani using a monochrome monitor which had inability to distinguish X from an uncertain cell. THAT was hard.
Finally, a tier 1 result with 23 fully cleared dungeon, 24 chests and Satan defeated. It was hard until I've got Arm Swipe, after that Satan was a joke. Also you don't need to learn Healing past 500 if you have decent constitution. But, the 4 eastern dungeons are now *officially* locked out of the game.
