Thanks for being inspired by our games! The one thing I feel this is lacking, which the TITOL series has, is level names. These serve the purpose of giving a veiled clue to the player. As it is now, Exercises in Style is very trial and error, and solutions feel like they've been lucked into, as opposed to being solved.
Hello and thank you for having a look at my game :-)
Although my main reference is Raymond Queneau's book 'Exercises In Style', I can't deny that some of my levels got their inspiration in TITOL. However, once you find the Requirement Room, original gameplay mechanics are added to the game, which are original and weren't featured in the TITOL series (up to my knowledge). About the level names, this is actually rather a choice to make players refer to the Hints Room for help, thus breaking their progression and cancelling the possibility of making a good time in speedrun, thus adding a memorization element to the speedrun segments (especially the 'Special speedrun'). As this was more of a slightly experimental feature, I might reconsider it for future games. So thank you for your feedback!
By the way, did you try typing 'references', 'inspiration', 'this is the only level' or 'jmtb02' in the Requirement Room? ;-)
I'm locked at the end of NG+. I've bought all shop upgrades, but do not have the achievement unlocked for "Buy 400 shop upgrades". No more left to buy. Can't progress to NG++.
Game has been frozen for 30 minutes after I spent 2 minutes trying to level skills up. Game is basically unplayable at this point, until the following are changed: 1) add ability to buy in high quantities at once, or allow for Buy All Max. 2) eliminate lag when purchasing large quantities of upgrades across all Layers. and 3) change how the Skip Floor function works, so you can only skip to floors that you can win on.... which is what the function's description is, but not how it actually works.
Lag on buying has to do with total number of upgrades purchased, I think. My Layer 5 upgraded, and I applied like x800 across the board, and it started smooth and slowed way way down. And now all my other Layer upgrades are super laggy and slow, even from x1.
I'm now stuck in this loop where I go to level 44, die massively, drop down to 39 and win easily, then jump back to 44 and die miserably again. I can't make any progress because 39 gives too little xp and 44 is too hard for me. the AI for jumping levels needs to be tighter, so I don't jump to levels I can't win.
It would also be amazing if, for example, I am easily winning floor 37, and then jump to floor 41 where I lose.... the game instead knew this and warped me to floor 40 where I could win instead, and get that level boost to properly tackle 41.
Please please make it easier to upgrade my Layers. Having to buy x500 things x5 over and over again, with massive lag, is really frustrating. I'd love a "Buy All /5" button so I can easily apply 20% of my points to each of the stats. The lag is horrible when upgrading as well.
game breaks when you hit infinity. not sure where / what infinity is, but game breaks. https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FxAXSbLF.png%3F1 # of updates per second also is bugged... it stays at M/s, even when it should roll over to B/s or T/s; you can see this in the screenshot as well.
If anyone is interested in discussion / strategies for speedrunning CircloO 2, please check out this Discord: https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdiscord.gg%2FYEk7Pr
Having a hard time getting faster Infinity time than 7.8 seconds. This is after 17,000 Infinity's, max'd out everything except Big Crunch (0.2s, 4000 IP to decrease more). And over 6000 IP unspent. Active play, which is still a bit faster than idle play... 27.2s for fully idle, and 9.5s for partially idle. This leads me to 2 things: 1, any time under 7s is almost certainly cheated. 2. I would love it if it displayed my prior Infinity's time on the main Dimensions screen, so I could track it better. Playing active and trying to control a stopwatch every 7-8s is just not feasible.
I'd like an option to set Automatic DimBoosts to 10. Current min is 20. Allowing me to set it to 10 would let me auto-Shift, without having to Boost. Would also be nice if you could set different DimBoost settings depending on how many Galaxies you have; when I had fewer IP, I wanted to Boost on 0 Galaxy to 71, but then on 1 Galaxy only to 26.
Hey Tony. I'm finding the game INCREDIBLY laggy. Almost certainly due to Chrome's flash player + saving/submitting... I've noticed this in many other games as well, and there likely isn't anything you can do... except to submit and/or save less frequently. But still worth looking into!
