I find it's better to defend a small area, but with 2-4 full sniper towers (11 people and maxed range), and keep (most of) your supplies moving along, than to treat this as a conventional RTS and defend and hold everything. it takes more micromanangement that way, but it's worth it.
I'm supposed to be able to shoot missiles through rifts... For some reason, I have never been able to do so. (I've tried.)...any suggestions for what I might be doing wrong?
i guess you got lazy and didn't add an actual ai to the monsters...maybe instead of complete random walk every tick, have them be more likely to run in one direction at any moment. maybe more likely to run towards the player, even...
or even a mix: complete random, and 95% chance to move towards the player. or something of the sort.
ok...the main problem is drops. They move down so fast that the only way to grab them is to shoot an enemy point blank. They're almost gone by the time it's even possible to react, and gone before you could possibly get the ship to them.
slow the upgrades down, and/or increase the screen size.
the first boss is insane. i had to get lucky and get 2 hp drops from the missiles.
if the missiles had a finite lifespan on their own, or you could get a side-firing weapon by then, it wouldn't be sucha big deal.
but you have to go to the top of the screen, and wait for the ship to lunge, leaving you extra vulnerable to the missiles.
I WIN!!!!...and now there's no more bandits or police officers :D...
I spent about 1-3 weeks (and lost my sense of time) training people up, then i rushed through the story line.
The bandits at the base were absolutely pathetic compared to the raiding bandits that harrassed me on my way TO the base. Really. They wouldn't have got a shot in if i'd been able to find the very last bandit on the second wave :D
Then I took out 7 army regiments without loosing anybody, though i had to save/restart a lot. lost one person on the eigth.
If I replayed, I'd get the 10 agil person a bit sooner, then get everyone with 8+ base strength and at least 4 accuracy, so they could all hurl grenades across the screen by the time I got to the final battle.
grenades=pwnage :D
to defeat the "ping pong level" (level 5), set up a full line of mortars above the creeper. move the line down, and build a second line. it'll kill the creeper in a minute or two.
level 5?
deal with the first two chambers by placing one shield in each quickly, then building a mortar+2-3 blasters later on.
deal with the stuff at the bottom with lots of mortars (launchers) and a few blasters.
...huh. not enuogh time? I built my sams with 2 minutes to spare.
no, todays level is not an insanely hard level. "the butterfly effect" IS a hard level. the strategy used there can be used here, but with much less pressure.
It's really quite simple. do a mixture.
Say, jump over that first spiked pit, and touch the statue...but then take the upper path. or do take the lower path, but dont' throw yourself into the barbs that one time. things like that.
