I was surprised there was an end, however, I liked it that way. Endless mode may be fun as well, but this way at least you can have a feeling of accomplishment - other than just beating the score of others which must be at least slightly luck based too, anyway :)
I agree! And yeah the scores are slightly luck based since the orders are random and there's always the possibility of getting one that takes a lot of going back-and-forth to serve, meaning you might not make the best time (serving quickly is awarded more points).
I guess when all buildings are open, all wonders are build and all lands are open as well, I can say I finished the game? The goal doesn't seem to be presented to the player and there is no congratulations or anything. There are borders on the map though, so you eventually run out of room for growth (except for exponential growth of both production and prices on already existing sources and factories). Took me a week, and I can say it is a good game.
I didn't enjoy the combat system much, and I was thinking about lowering the rating to 4/5. But then again I thought about the storytelling and I changed my mind. You are a master of interactive fiction, VasantJ :)
Three detective stories within just one game. Awesome storytelling, again. So, a clear 5/5. It took two months since previous game and the wait was totally worth it.
Maybe I should 5/5 VasantJ's games preemptively in case I forgot rating, but then again, I don't think I ever forget to do that. When a chapter ends, my ideas are almost always "5/5" and "can't wait for the next one".
I don't recommend playing this game on Kongregate. All was well while it still ran in Unity in a version of Firefox that still supported it ... Well, then for some reason they switched to WebGL exclusively, and that port is a bugged piece of garbage and sadly no fixes coming anytime soon, most likely. WebGL keeps getting out of memory repeatedly, so you need to either keep refreshing, switch to mobile or link it to Steam.
It would be nice landscaping. My original thought was to have all the characters not be in relationships with each other, but I think I'll leave their relationship status up to interpretation.
Damn. I should have tried to solve the case myself rather than having the good old Dregg do a better part of the thinking. I guess I'm not nearly as bright when sleepy (or drunk). It was almost 4AM ...
Man, the storytelling keeps getting more and more interesting, I love it! The focus on puzzles is getting lesser though. I wouldn't love to see some detective case shorts after we are through this epic story.
I am thinking of creating a "Medieval Cop Files" series where Dregg and Amber solve mysteries without the Main Story, Sort of a side project. What do you think?
This game lags quite a bit. Not sure if Firefox is to blame, or the game itself. But I guess unless your CPU is clocked at 6GHz+ you're going to experience some input lags and stuff.
Since when "Texas" is a word and "Latin" is not? There are so many things it doesn't register. Well, it is quite stupid for a machine so intelligent. On a side note "Coming soon" in a nine years old game.
One thing that wasn't done well though: The kills hi-score. It is about grinding only, so finding a way to kill as many unique enemies as you can is pointless for hi-score purposes.
I agree! And yeah the scores are slightly luck based since the orders are random and there's always the possibility of getting one that takes a lot of going back-and-forth to serve, meaning you might not make the best time (serving quickly is awarded more points).
