Well made, fairly well balanced. I had difficulty with lvl 22, and was somewhat frustrated that I didn't know what the goal was. I almost quit, thinking the game was bugged. 4/5 though.
Wanted: EASY levels that have enough waves/economic development potential to develop the fun Mega Towers and Mega Mega Towers. WANTED: Unlimited ALL difficulty levels on sites other than Armour Games, or at least on Kongregate, which has implemented the Kred system for compensating developers.
Plenty of decent artwork, but the gore that erupts upon insertion of the sword needs work. It is a little too gradeschool. I missed the game this is a tribute to, but it reminds me of some portions of an RPG for the SNES... Heroes of Mana or Chronos Something or Another??? Some oldtimer less senile than me probably knows which one I am refering to.
Great concept, but the execution needs work. Lvl 5 on easy is NOT easy, and I am not inclined to grind away for a possible solution. Upgrades would give the game added depth and possibly motivation to keep playing. Please FIX the levels so the difficulty is accurately represented and the game is winnable.
Eat creatures, grow huge, avoid obstacles... How very, very worm-like! But since when is pretending one is an invertebrate actually FUN? Yeah, it needs something more - a plot or a faster ending.
3/5 for graphics and having a playable game. Dull. Repetitive. Devoid of choices. Lacking everything but the demand to push buttons almost fast in a repeated manner. Can not hold my interest. Absolutely fabulous had it been released circa 1988.
Does a White Castle Gift Certificate meet the criteria of encouraging game play via the addiction model? Cute game, but not much too it, so perhaps a White Castle prize is somehow fitting.
A meatier version of Elements TD. 5/5 The graphics are decent, but it is the game play that excels. There is a balance between large and small maps, and as the game progresses, a gradual increase in complexity and difficulty that is well met by thoughtful skill sets and the need to use the spells in play. I've spent several days grinding on the game in search of excellent and brilliant finishes to levels and am not yet bored. At present, I have all brilliant and excellent finishes except to level 15, although I can and do look forward to the hour when my skills are maxed and that too is attainable. My only complaint is that with only 15 levels, the game may still be too short and a level editor for player created content would certainly be highly educational to all those interested in TD creation, in part because these levels and skill sets are so well balanced yet still complex. I fear I may find myself wanting MORE.
Level design, gold and spell upgrades all need more thought. People like to win. This is a lot of frantic mouse clicking on level 3 that just IS NOT FUN.
It is both winnable and highly enjoyable WITHOUT purchasing extra levels, perks, or maps. 5/5 for excellent gameplay, well balanced strength, excellent maps, and high "fun factor". The ONLY thing I would change is the SIZE of the game within the browser. It is slightly too large for me to see the whole map and the lower information panels without scrolling.
